On Wednesday path well tracked and slope quite ski-tracked. Current snow conditions well described on ARSO. Wouldn't give any personal guarantee.

This morning on Viševnik as only 'walker', others skiers and snowshoers. Path very little trodden, towards top sinks to waist in places, not pleasant. Average sink around 20 cm. Need to wait a bit for proper relaxed winter tour.
Weather divine, warm and scenic...

Well we...finally...broke the ice...and did our first ski touring descent ever, plus did »schnell kurs« on basics – gear use, ascent technique, turning etc. Due to strong thaw conditions far from ideal, but very satisfied anyway (of course  ) and looking forward to practising what we learned tomorrow (if all goes well)…Weather for gods , peace and quiet for soul, few visitors today…

first ski touring really stays in memory, mine was also Viševnik direction but turned below base and hard skied down... congrats, bravely on!

Gita, also in my name congrats!
This year I started ski touring too. Skied mainly heavier snows, or rodeo masterpieces. Also some nice powder descents I enjoyed, so I felt a bit of each, which decides ski touring knowledge in mountains. Good higher descents despite probably few weeks have just barely started. But caution is needed, considering snow conditions, obstacles on slopes, icy patches, wind-packed snow, assessment of hike to still safe point with dogs, lower slab avalanches, rocks from walls and more and more. That pure skiing is the easiest.

Viharnik, thanks for the congratulations . I strongly agree that skiing is the smallest "problem", if we call it that, everything else you listed is crucial for the decision when and where to choose a safe tour and of course appropriate to your abilities and knowledge.
For now I'll stay on this forum ...

Congratulations on the feat. This year I skied again for the first time after 16 years so I struggled a bit but had to learn again, because long ago I will switch to touring skiing. I have enough of hiking, especially downhill, and it goes faster Need to start with easier tours and it will be, of course with all precautions. Good luck and best regards

Yeah that's it - we two have often "turned green with envy" when others skied past us enjoyably, we walking down  ...of course there's still a lot to learn, but the first step is done . Good luck to you too (especially if you head out tomorrow for some divine sunrise - can't wait for reports and pics .
