On Sunday on Viševnik. Snow all the way from parking to top. Morning frozen, after 10am snow softens. Lots of skiers, hikers from none to proper crampons.

I last visited Viševnik many years ago, so the ascent to it suited me like it hasn't for a long time nasmeh

. It is just short enough to easily fit it into the day's tasks. I was surprised only by the lack of snow cover, especially considering the winter gear I took with me. For the southern approach in current conditions, small crampons fully suffice, anything else is already annoying (on 18.12.2024). This of course applies only until the next snowfalls, so there are no misunderstandings velik nasmeh

I park at the barracks on Pokljuka. Of course not right in front of the hut, but by the road :)

Here I am at my own risk. As if it were any different at the paid parking a bit further :)

There is very little snow, the road to the cable car is icy.

The slope in front of me glows in the first sunlight. It will soon be hidden by clouds.

Such lack of snow surprises me, especially since I have all winter gear.

The clouds have finally covered the sun and everything has become more gloomy.

Anyone been to Viševnik last two days? What conditions? Lots of snow? Would go Sunday or Monday, looks like really nice weather.

Was there today. The path is mostly snowy, but well trodden and doesn't sink because the snow isn't deep. Most of us had (at least for descent) microspikes and it was ok. When the sun softens the snow you have to be a bit careful with the spikes on the microspikes. Also met a group of three who had real crampons, not sure if they had them just for the standard path to Viševnik or went over the more difficult Srenjski pass.

We want to go tomorrow and (from Rudno polje side 2h) is it ok path for average hiker? Do we need ice axe? Thanks

In the morning the snow was still hard, but it softened quickly.

Just asking, is there still some snow patch at Viševnik ski slope by the left hut, so we can take our young kids sledding this Saturday.

Yes, there is still snow, but little. Today at least two buses of preschool kids came sledding there. But at these temperatures Saturday is still far.
