Park at Rudno polje, can't miss it further on. Along the cross-country track to the military ski slope. When up at the top of both lifts spot the well-trodden path and follow it to the summit.

Today conquered Viševnik with two mates in beautiful cold weather. Views all around stunning and hard to leave the top, path well trodden no probs. No crampons needed either.
Recommend.

Hi Urša.
The path to Viševnik is so well walked that both will surely manage. Hurry to catch the last mountain fairy tale this year....

Here just from Viševnik. As previous said snow from lift on somewhat softer spots but soon hard. Up ridge hard icy places. Not pleasant for skiing. Gotta wait for some fresh snow.

As every year, today it took me to Viševnik. After dismissing Kamnik Alps, I decided for Pokljuka-Lipanca. After a few hundred meters of car bobsled track towards Kranjska pl., due to icy wheel tracks in places, I turned to Rudno polje. Up to Viševnik, due to trampled path, I turned to Kačji rob and Srenjski preval. Didn't have skis or snowshoes, so longer and bit harder ascent. In shady spots still sinking when walking, snow dry with slight crust. Nice along ridge, on top snow compacted and yellow-marked, reminding me of fair or flea market. Picked up refreshing packaging-origin from Croatia and via "car track" to barracks. Lp-Rok

I'm gonna nail it up there tomorrow. But are crampons mandatory? Going with friends, know 2 don't have them, probably won't have too much trouble? Fresh snow shouldn't cause issues either, right?

For Viševnik currently crampons not mandatory. Snow mostly unprocessed-dry, only on summit ridge a bit icy, there more careful step (fresh snow-underneath bit ice) and ice axe in hand. Ridge to Srenjski preval also trampled (circular tour possible) and not icy.

Viharnik, what circular tour is that? Where do you descend? To Konjščica?

No,no! Down there extremists ski. Meant along ridge to Srenjski preval or Mali Draški vrh, precisely to NW side, then through snowy-idyllic valley to Zlate vode to Viševnik lift. If not much new snow, you'll see trampled path first on SW ridge (Konjščica), then after 15min walk turns to shady side, to pass.

Was there today. On foot with crampons.
I like to put them on, since I have some experience with falls -(stubborn or whatever)..
Otherwise up there some hikers- all without crampons. And quite some skiers and a snowboarder.
Snow sinking so not very pleasant walking, and "super" hot too.
Anyway, slowly you get far (though Viševnik not that far).
Think when decent thaw comes it won't be safe or pleasant anymore.
Some of us will wait for spring.

Foggy below, quite hot up top already!!2

Hello,
soon heading for ski touring from Viševnik.

Whole week not in Slovenia, this morning back and surprised by high temps and green grass (end of real winter?) Know there's still plenty snow up there in mountain paradise, but would appreciate info on snow conditions.

Just read avalanche report at Rudno polje, where Norwegian method says upper layer of new snow hasn't bonded to old base and is very unstable! Choose goals without long, uncleared steep slopes. Quite dangerous crossing steep gullies, faces... In spring dangerous even in innocent-looking forested slopes, esp. few days after snowfall. South snow has extreme power and uproots even strong beeches. Human is just paper compared to them. Can't survive under that weight, let alone dig out.

This weekend we had Days of Loyalty to Snow Avalanches on Pokljuka organized by GRZS. Today was otherwise planned ascent to Viševnik but they canceled it (mountain rescuers!) due to avalanche danger. Think that says it all...

As mentioned above we also did snow profile by Norwegian method, top 40cm slid off at very low load!
