since I don't trust weather forecastersnasmeh, I set off to viševnik this morning to check how much snow there is... left skis at homevelik nasmeh, from rudno polje in cloudy weather(but it was nice) head to saddle and then to summit. some snow on path, no crisis. on top up to knees and over. hope it snows again soon...mežikanje, descent 3x faster than usual cuz kept cutting where possible. attach few more pics
P.S. "track" done, noone skied yet, no crampons needed...jezik
Started snowing on descent, trip took just over 2 hours.

The wind howling around the trees scattered snowflakes through the air. In the glow of the "headlamp" I watched the dance of crystals mixed with my breath... This could be the start of a book, but I won't ramble pointlessly, maybe not everyone has an ear for it. Anyway, I was on Viševnik, this time the skis came with me! Arrived at RP in total darkness, parked, prepared and set off on the path. Although there's little snow (read: crusty but still skiable) I'm in good spirits. The ski slope goes nicely, I pull my own track or walk where the ratrack went. Soon I stop at the second lift station and look into the gully. Yeah, the gully was one big sadness, so I decide to leave the skis there (later I regretted it). Soon at the saddle and then at the summit. Nicely exploited morning...
Conditions: from windpacked hard snow to breaking through to the butt, to thin crust. Skiing across the belt of scrub could be a story in itself (everyone manages as they can), on the summit part of Viševnik it's hard and frozen, the wind blew hard today. Gully under the saddle full of rocks and crusty, crusty. From the saddle to the top it's a mix. Track pulled, gaz toovelik nasmeh, on the way back I met surely 15 tourers and 5 boarders, and 5 hikers. It was nice!

I like to hike in the mountains only in good weather, so I have fewer trips per year, but still about 15 without winter ones.

Today we two also set off to Viševnik together with friends. Started at the barracks on Rudno polje, then along the ski slope and continued over Kačji rob. Up to here the path is practically dry. Further to Srenjski preval there's still quite some snow. In shady areas on the north side below Viševnik snow is hard, but not frozen, on the section under Srenjski preval it was sinking in places due to warm sun. Viševnik summit is snow-free, as is the south path over Plesišče.
In current conditions winter gear not needed.

nice tour.nasmeh but still don't understand why you didn't descend from beautiful Begunjščica to S side and climb Vrtača, instead of driving over 20km to RP? matter of choice, but Vrtača is great. mežikanje
strongly recommend it to you for next timejezik

Yes, Viševnik gets quite a lot of visits, especially in winter. We two also visited it today. Parked by the monument then past Blejska koča to Lipanci, on to Viševnik and down to Rudno polje. Only a bit more boring is the road that takes you to parking, otherwise nice loop path. As for conditions legenda described them well, yesterday's identical to today's. Lpnasmeh

After all mountain mishaps this week, today was no exceptionvelik nasmeh...from Celje to Pokljuka I drove exactly 4 hours todayeek, then I learned biathlon started on Pokljuka and time too late for original plan, but in end just ascent to Viševnik good decision, as "Siberian" wind blowing and gusts veeery strong. Conditions ok, tho not super for walking, mushy under feet, some places snow hard, but already tomorrow everything different...nasmeh
