Hello! I'm interested in the road from Rudno polje to the parking lot at the end of the road towards Planina Konjščica and Viševnik. I heard it's closed. We're heading that way on 15 June. I'd appreciate info if the road is drivable or at least walkable. LP Niko

Today on Viševnik from Rudno polje. The path was muddy and slippery in the middle part, otherwise no issues. Larches already slowly yellowing

Awesome, @tinky. I didn't even know Luknja peč is such a nice mountain. Gotta go up again next year.

Well if nobody writes, I'll do it. Since yesterday no one wrote conditions for Viševnik, I thought it wasn't tracked... So I decided to take snowshoes (best decision!). Avalanche danger 3rd degree, so I went east to get back to valley ASAP. At 6am on Pokljuka -12°C. To ski slope nice walking, then snowshoes up fast. But after few meters see it's all churned... Looks like lots of people went up yesterday... But snowshoes stayed on. Snow very bad, sinking a lot, but track done... Last part below summit disaster, but made it! Alone on top! Couldn't believe. Return to valley express! Straight down... At ski slope meet some walkers + some skiers going up. Walkers' gear varied.. One had crampons, others nothing, some with snowshoes... Not icy, sinks nicely One more video: TODAY'S CONDITIONS Best regards, Freak.si

Has anyone been to Viševnik recently? What are the conditions like?

Today, 6. 2., I was on Viševnik from Rudno polje. The path is mostly trodden down. If you step off the 'path' the crust breaks somewhere to mid-calf.

Great! Thanks for the info. Do you recommend crampons? Regards

The snow is mushy and crampons would come into play only beyond the ridge and onwards to the summit, where the later-fallen snow is closer to icy base. On the path at every step it feels like walking on sand . I used small crampons on the descent from the top. Definitely winter-appropriate gear is recommended.

If the path was soft-sandy just a couple of days ago, today the snow was hard and nothing sank in, in short, super. Weather mostly sunny and windless. Views excellent. Quite a few hikers and skiers, but no crowds, as usual for Viševnik.

Gear, did you use crampons and ice axe? How about continuing path to MDV and return via Konjščica?

I didn't need crampons at all, nor an ice axe, I had snowshoes. Probably crampons will be needed in the next days when the path is trodden and frozen. Ice axe on this side over the ski slope up you don't need. No tracks at all did I see further towards MDV and also on Konjščica it doesn't look like anyone has walked.... but maybe I'm wrong.
