@Sandra, isn't it better they go hiking for stamps than for Insta pics I don't collect them, doesn't bother me at all if someone enjoys stamping in SPP/SPT booklet

For a child a stamp means a lot. Mainly motivation for hiking that many lack. With adults the nagging about stamps and hut service is already a bit much. You can go to the mountains without it too. On volunteering and such just this. Let those who suggest it do it. Usually they have their mouths full of volunteering, but little effect.

It's not about the stamps, Polona, I spoke up because I don't think it's right to just criticize. On their website it says for both huts when they open and how…

No offense, after all these comments I can write, ... The caravan goes on, dogs bark, ... or rather wrong order, first dogs bark and ... LP!

Nowadays you can't do anything voluntary on your own, because they report you. Those responsible for maintenance do it half-heartedly or not even that. It's the same at huts as with trail maintenance. Everything is interconnected.

Sandra, I don't even agree with you. Everyone has some motivation to go hiking in the mountains, in nature. If someone hikes for stamps, great, just as long as they hike and don't sit in pubs just fiddling with their phone. Anyway, those who go to the mountains definitely don't see just the stamp, but do quite a lot of good for themselves, observe nature, some even realize that society in the mountains is completely something else than in the valley. People, most are more friendly to each other even if you give or get just a greeting, maybe sometimes even a kind word. So, it's not hiking in the mountains on demand, hike to the mountains and do what I do, because nothing else is worth it. But it won't hold, people are different, but it's important that a person in nature doesn't do harm equally to people, knows how to behave in society and it's better to be quiet than just complain and accuse others what they are.

Were there yesterday and as @garmont says, the path is completely dry . Same on the path over Škarjev rob, only the upper descent part is quite annoyingly gravelly.

Am I reading wrong, or was this tour 2 days long?

@Kafetarca, if I read right, you read nothing wrong... and why so surprised that the tour was 2 days long? Bravo @bos&Co. ... I too hiked to mountains with kids and many tours that are normally done in one day, if possible we split into two days and enjoyed it a lot. Wish you luck for many more nice moments with your sons!

@pohodnik11, thanks and good luck to you too on mountain trails. What is better than leaving home after lunch, afternoon walk to hut, morning to summit and finish tour by lunchtime. No early rising, rushing and chasing time, sleeping for kids is experience, ...

I have great memories of sleeping at Dom na Kališču. I also prefer to split a long tour with lots of elevation gain into two days, include another peak, and hike everything leisurely without rushing. Evenings and mornings are the best anyway, when it quiets down around the hut ... Up there really rarely anyone stays overnight, I've done it multiple times myself, but years ago. Sleeping was really cheap back then even for non-PZS members. Is the same lady still the caretaker up there as years ago? It would be interesting to repeat. My classic two-day tour to Storžič went like this, from Tržič to Tržič (more precisely from the bus station): 1. Tržič - Kriška gora - Tolsti vrh - pl. Mala and Velika Poljana - pl. Javornik - Kališče. 2. Kališče - Storžič - Škarjev rob - Javorniško sedlo - (pl. Javornik) - Bela peč - Konjščica - Tič - Lom po Storžičem - Tržič. About 6 hours walking each day and lots of enjoyment, especially during the week when much of the path is solitary, bus had good schedule too. Was in August and September, top! Maybe useful to someone

Today went to Storžič via Psica. Fairly at the start of the path from Velika Poljana, in the forest, some trees fallen across the path, a bit further two spruces half-fallen leaning on another tree. Careful when crossing. Otherwise path without issues, fixed protections in super condition.

What's the road to Dom pod Storžičem like, still so torn up?

The road is torn up in places, but no problem to get there with a regular car.

Yesterday I went through Žrelo and the path was OK. It seemed compared to three weeks ago maybe a bit more torn up in a couple places and somewhat more eroded in spots, but no problems. All fixed protections fine.
