Today's morning freshness on Rudno polje was pleasant to us, like not for a long time on ascent to Viševnik. Along the path of course full of various flowers from pogačic, planik, Turk's lilies, alpine vele, svišči on northern slopes and many other beautiful flowers. But no real view, clouds piled up too soon and covered all higher peaks. Good we have memories of past visits that were richer with views. After return from Viševnik also visit to Uskovnica, where again everything in flowers. And followed only refreshment that flowed down the throat.nasmehmežikanje

On Saturday, 14.7., we got on bikes and pedaled from Bled to Rudno polje. Day perfect for cycling, no heat, no wind, just a long ascent almost 20km velik nasmeh. Which peak to head for we actually decided only at Mrzli studenec. So from Rudno polje we pushed bikes a bit higher, "locked" them to a tree and feet on path. Summit was cloudless at first, but fog and cold wind greeted us. Without stop we continued over Kačji zob and Srenjski preval back to bikes, then sat on asses again and down to valley. Warm clothes of course necessary. Nice day ended with visit to Radovna valley.

Vacation and beautiful Monday used for visit to Viševnik. This time not usual path, but we choose path over Kačji rob. Parking at Rudno polje almost empty, so no big crowdsnasmeh. Path along ski slope takes us to junction, where we head to Blejska koča at Lipanca. Path through scrub soon to rocky part, where we cross side ridge Viševnik-Kačji rob. We descend to wonderful little valley full of sinkholes, hollows. Meadow full of blue tufts of spring svišča soon directs us to path to Srenjski preval. From there up to path along main ridge of Viševnik offering wonderful views. Short exposed step and we're at top. Summit offers great view to Bohinj peaks and our daddy who shyly hid his top in clouds. Summit logbook has grown legs..eek, stamp still firmly on top. Descent by usual path back to Rudno polje. nasmeh

Who can advise... is it safe tomorrow on Viševnik without winter gear (crampons, ice axe....)?
like
Janez Seliškar29. 10. 2012 17:55:22
It's already starting in the style: is it safe!

Answer: Whoever is in doubt whether it's safe without gear or not should stay home, or go and take the gear with them.

Today @rozka was up there, she said it was totally OK, just sinking to the knees in places, because no gentleman went ahead. Otherwise snow itself is not a problem, the problem are those who are afraid of snow.

It's already starting whether crampons/ice axe are needed or not, take them along and that's it, is it that hard.....

All those for whom gear in mountains is a burden and extra-unnecessary mass should decide for the pool instead of the mountains.

With my friend today we both carried loads to Kumlehova glava, and if the ice axe on the backpack hadn't snagged in the bushes under which we crawled, we wouldn't even have known that we had it with usmežikanje.

@Igor Zlodej.... thanks for useful info...nasmeh

@Anya.... thanks for your expressed personal opinion... respect...nasmeh

This isn't usual for me, but anyway.... Those smart alecks (some of them two three years ago didn't even know what crampons and ice axe are mežikanje), who can't answer a concrete question concretely... better if you must, open a topic under general discussions... e.g. "smart-assing" or "we know it all".... and smart-ass there...

This forum is called current conditions and I asked for concrete conditions for Viševnik... not for Triglav, or Jalovec, or Mangart, or Skuto, or..... and I expected information on concrete conditions on that path, which turned out as Igor described... even better...

Enough on that, I won't get into debates with "experts" anymorezavijanje z očmi

Otherwise super day!!! Start at Rudno polje, path as expected already "richly" trodden, so except at a few spots when we went a bit our own way, there was no need to break trail.. Uphill mostly powder, from the saddle onwards already somewhat southern... on the summit ridge a little breeze, which almost lay down on the top... nasmeh.. in short conditions so that on the summit instead of tea a beer really "hit the spot"... velik nasmeh ...views wonderful on all sides... for descent we put on those small "cramponlets" from Veriga... they came in very handy for quick descent..

In short... wonderful...

Snapshot along the trail1
At the top... the gentleman back right and the lady back left don't need to be introduced, I think...2
At the top... back right home hills :-), back left Karavanke...3
Can't leave the top without this shot... ;-) :-)4
What can we do... this seems to be becoming our habit.... ;-)5
So I seized the opportunity to hop over to Triglav too... ;-)6
Before we descended, another look towards home turf... endless... Krvavec, Veliki Zvoh, Kalški greben, Kalška gora, Storžič and Tolsti vrh before it, Kočna.. Skuta... Rinke... Velika Baba, Ledinski Vrh... no need to list them all... :-) :-) :-)7
