Just my humble opinion. Why all this listing (I assume) by father Primož, in how many layers of clothes he dressed the child? Maybe he's afraid they'd think he doesn't dress the kids enough. Otherwise it's obvious it's cold outside and we're sitting in front of the computer too, messing with b....t

There are parents who don't know how to equip kids for the mountains and nature. I know some who can't even equip themselves. So they rather sit at home, get fat and complain, although they say they want to move in nature. That's why I think such detailed instructions as Primož wrote can be very useful and helpful and can help many to do something for their health and well-being and good habits of their children and for upbringing in love for nature and mountains. Nice mountain greetings!

Hehe, well here. The girl obviously didn't suffer, as some assumed Not poor kid who has such parents... but HAPPY kid to have such parents! Go on, bravo!

Usually I don't comment, but here I am.... I join the comment of Janez T. and Zebdi and others similar. Really lucky kids who have such parents. I write from my own experiences, not just like that. We too took our sons on paths, routes and in conditions that at the time caused disagreement, even the gear wasn't like today, far from it. But they grew into healthy lads who appreciate nature and know that you have to work for all nice things. Primož just keep safely on like that.

My biggest wish was to accompany my father on his mountain adventures, but just as it started to come true, it was buried with him. And as a little child I'm looking forward to next week when I'll go to Nanos in his memory, also past that place where 25 years ago he fell asleep forever. Anyway this has nothing to do with Viševnik, but let the child have the joy if she has it. I didn't notice anywhere that Primož had to drag the child on a chain behind him. And if they have enough, I strongly doubt he'll use it, the chain that is. Ajda, just enjoy.

Hello, what's the snow base like on Viševnik? Is the summit still frozen? Another question for ski tourers... What's the route from the top like, I forgot exactly what it's called, but if you go from the mining field to the mountain top, at the top turn slightly left, then over the pass and down to the valley to those two or three huts and through the forest back to Pokljuka? Sorry for my slight memory loss... a bit tired best, Anej

Yeah, yeah . . . . fatigue is the devil With ten days of minus to almost twenty below zero, maybe even lower/higher, it could happen that the summit is still frozen. Yeah, yeah, it could. Previously not much base, snow of course, and given it snowed at such low temps, it was pure powder. Which couldn't bond at all with the old icy base and due to wind drifted to the old base in places and elsewhere into high drifts. Over the pass? probably to pl. Konjščica, where else? Same conditions wise for ski tourers as for walkers ... except easier for skiers. And snowshoers are better off than "barefooters". And back to Pokljuka . . . not necessarily through the forest, for me usually easier through . . .

Hehe... I'm not really versed in the "terms" regularly used in this branch. Hope the weather changes by end of week... A bit of sun would melt this ice. Planned Saturday ascent to Viševnik then descent to Konjščica yeah (where the drinking water spring is), but if it's really that frozen, it'll be tougher for us boarders. Thanks for the info! ... But I recommend myself for any more advice.

I was there yesterday. There is ice on the top alright, but not the whole summit under ice. The snow hasn't bonded with the base either. There was less than I expected. The wind blew it away. But there are snow drifts in some places, scree elsewhere. Crampons and ice axe with you, definitely. Also on the path, on some sections the snow is so frozen that I didn't dare without crampons. Yeah, low temperatures did their thing. Hope this helps you.

Hello! I'm mainly interested what's the descent from Viševnik towards Srenjski preval and then to Jezerce valley like? Better to do the path reverse, from Studorski preval to Srenjski preval? Or no big difference here? Thanks for answer!

Due to this wretched thawing, the question is how safe it will be to hike/ski there because of avalanches.
