Very nice pictures, viševnik has crept under my skin too so i'd also like to see how our očak wakes up, but what when in the morning it's so hard to get up nothing for it, in these days i'll have to make an effort, get up and experience that beauty.

Yesterday led a group of teenagers to Vogar and since we were back in Stara Fužina around 3pm, I quickly decide and drive to Pokljuka and "full gas" to Viševnik, yippee, something completely new ...the summit was deserted, the sun was slowly drowning among the mountains, peace and quiet, experienced Viševnik differently than usual , and as a reward nice views and cold wind

No more snow like in the last pics on Viševnik. But the path itself on Sunday was muddy in places, frozen elsewhere - from Viševnik to Srenjski preval frozen, towards Blejska koča snow up to the butt in places ... on the way also to Debeli vrh (1962 m)... wonderful weather, return to start - Rudno polje, where in the morning there was only one car left at the parking, then real crowd, lots of hikers, at Blejska koča huge crowd. Cheers!

Viševnik besieged today. Weather couldn't be better. Path dry and bare.

Finally we got nice weather and snowy mountains. On Pokljuka little snow, so the road to the bottom of the ski slope is passable without major issues. More snow starts somewhere above the top of the ski slope, in that gully before the view to the top opens, it increases step by step. From the ridge where the view to the lower Bohinj mountains opens, you still walk between, not on top of the pines, but when the path reaches grassy parts again, the terrain is windblown, so grass sticks out of the white blanket. Ascent is quite annoyingly slippery because completely dry fresh soft snow on grass slides like greased. Quickly then: mandatory: poles, warm clothes and good mood. recommended: transport that gets you quickly to the valley (skis, board... I was very happy with my sledge ), gaiters. Crampons not very useful yet, since snow not much trodden. True, on the way down I met a considerable column, so the track is surely strong by now.

that crampons on windblown terrain with grass sticking out aren't useful is a bit far-fetched... doesn't have to be hard frozen snow to use crampons. Just ask Trentar...

JusAvgustin, I wrote they're not much good, not that they're not useful. I agree they helped, but even with crampons it was insanely slippery. Much more than crampons poles are absolutely necessary, crampons certainly don't hurt either.

The trail to Viševnik was perfectly passable. The only problem is that hikers use the uphill path for descent too and ruin it.... Anyway, this weekend I finally started the ski season. On Saturday we went to Krvavc/Zvoh, yesterday to Viševnik. For Viševnik I had "makadamke", because not enough base, but skiing was excellent for the conditions - powder. Really needs another meter or so

Yesterday we headed to Viševnik in beautiful weather. Path from Rudno polje nice and not too demanding. Little snow, summit bare. Views wonderful.

Today I had nowhere to put myself - so I went for regeneration before the race - running to Viševnik. Snow was hard and frozen, hindering me quite a bit in running - more fast walking - as my goal was to rest and not tire. Descended the other side to Srenjski preval. Snow very frozen, crossing without ice axe very difficult. Luckily a passerby lent me an ice axe to get across easier.

Information hot as fresh rolls . Viševnik nicely trodden, more snow lower down than on top, summit quite bare, crampons needed on ridge section to summit (icy path), otherwise almost ideal conditions for ascent. And some pics that say most.

Today from Rudno polje, only one older guy ahead. Weather so-so - light snow drifting in strong wind, sun showing now and then. In shelter around -22°C by my thermocouple, on wind gusting hard didn't measure Trail poorly visible, mostly cut across summit approach to rock spur from saddle, then carefully up ridge to top. Not too much snow, windblown up to 3/4m, else ~10cm. Last meters please careful, totally icy.

When that poor kid once realizes how much you tormented him in his youth, he'll surely get revenge on you in old age.

Probably they'll attack me again but I can't help it - on that day, meaning the day of your ascent, we had presentations of various activities as part of the Pokljuka Marathon. The weather was what it was, the BCA thermometer from the snowpack test kit showed -15.2 degrees at the shooting range at 12pm. We couldn't measure the wind unfortunately, but it was quite strong, according to the automatic station gusts up to 50 km/h. All together it makes windchill around -30 degrees at 1300 m.a.s.l. If someone thinks it's smart to take an 11-year-old child in such conditions to Viševnik, where the temperature was even lower, then I'm not smart enough anymore. P.S. one more thing - I intended to do a snow profile up to Zlate Vode and submit a report to ARSO, but somehow I changed my mind and didn't go up. So - use common sense in your endeavors. The mountains will wait for you. Best, G
