I'm wondering what the descent from this secured path is like? I'm really curious if you can get up there with just one leg :-)

You've provoked me and I'll go check it with my own eyes today. Still, please tell me if the descent is a normal gentle path or some more demanding one (downhill on slopes is really hard for me, uphill somehow goes).

With a lot of will it'll go even with one leg or even without ... but not on ZPP :-)

Well, yesterday after shift I really headed to Styria. "Ferrata" as a training polygon is interesting and very useful too. Since it's newly built, it's still very dusty and crumbly in places. So caution isn't superfluous, lest some grip stays in your hand. For building such things in our hills I'm firmly against. I think we have many demanding secured paths and don't need new ones. Sometimes protections need rearranging to be usable for self-securing. Building such "feratas" seems violence against nature to me, as they don't look for natural passages. Even first approachers to summits always sought the easiest passages. (And personal impressions - with my limping gait I really struggled to reach the rocks, descent on the path around also quite tired me, especially where no cable. For ascent over the "iron road" I used climbing shoes, and also pulled on the cable in places :-) and it went. But then knee hurt more again. It was just too steep slope for down. And praise to path markers for super marked paths).

@ sla: after all your writing and inquiring about how to traverse or climb the "secured path" (as you call it) and how you managed it, it's better to choose paths where you won't have such leg problems (and won't pull yourself only with arms ) both up and down. Congrats that you succeeded in the end despite the described issues. @ gornistvo: good answer lp

You wrote and asked everything a bit strangely.... Slowly step by step and also with difficulty. You know your body and abilities best. And quickest full recovery... Nice day.

http://pd-vg.velenje.si/ucni_poligon.htm Today climbed in the ferrata on Gonžarjeva peč, ferrata is nicely arranged all praise to PD Vinska Gora for the work done, climbed the ferrata 4x and could do a few more times but time didn't allow. But for the ferrata itself quite some physical condition needed especially in arms. Really happy we now have such a ferrata in Slovenia for training . No pics cuz lost camera (Praktika) probably at parking in Vinska Gora by church, if someone finds it contact me privately . lp Stanko

Hi! I'm interested in which via ferratas abroad or in our neighborhood (Austria, Italy) are similar to Gonžarjevi peči or even easier in difficulty? The other condition is that they're not in high mountains (up to 1000m above sea level)? If anyone knows any, I'd be very grateful for info... I've already seen Lawamund, that's something like it, now I'm wondering if there's more... Thanks!

In Austrian Carinthia you have via ferrata Luft unter den Sohlen in Breitwand near Doriach, difficulty D/E, 120 m. Božičev vrh/Boschitzberg, Turkenkopf klettersteig near Železna Kapla, difficulty D/E, 290m. Fallbach via ferrata, difficulty E, 240m. The first two are in the difficulty range of Gonžarjeva, but longer, Fallbach via ferrata is a bit harder.

One more thing I'm curious about: In Slovenia, besides Gradiška tura and Pogačnikova pot to Grmada, is there any other similar climbing path in the "lowland world"? Thanks and regards!

Gončarjeva peč in Vinska gora near Velenje. Check the pictures on the forum.

In the lowland world, "almost" in Slovenia, there are also ferratas in Glinščica.
