If you're going, take enough fluids with you, because there are none along the path.

Thanks for the quick reply and Darinka's kind recommendation. If someone knows, please provide a comparison of the difficulty of the path Dom Klementa Juga (Lepena) - Krn summit and fortress Kluže - Rombon. Last year I actually made it in one day from Lepena to Krn summit and back without any special (fitness) issues. It didn't seem dangerous to me either. The hike to Rombon summit should be around 5 hours (similar to Krn). Still I'm interested if the path to Rombon is harder or more demanding. I have to admit I really like walking on trodden and marked mountain paths, but I'm not really a fan of narrow trails running along sheer, precipitous slopes... Thanks in advance. Best regards

Two meters of slightly more demanding terrain after the junction of the path from Bovec, where you have to touch the rock a bit, not exposed. In short, no technical difficulties. But 1700 elevation gain, no one will do that for you.

I usually went from Zavrzelno to Rombon. There is a bit awkward scree which is somewhat steep, this year there was still snow in the gully. But it seems more demanding to me from Kluže, not that it's difficult, just more demanding fitness-wise. Maybe because that day there was quite some sultriness in the air and we sweated properly. That's why I wrote you need more fluids. And if you check out Kota 1313 and wall remains and Herman fortress along the way, it's about 6 hours to the summit. From Kluže it's a very scenic and interesting path. And there's quite some steepness to get to the mountain top.

Definitely the path from Kluže is more demanding and especially physically demanding, but you must take at least two liters of water with you, because whatever snow is up there will melt and simply there is no water up there, no springs in this area, there was one at Čuklja, but now it is very hot and humid, the summit is worth seeing from fortresses to the Kraljišče battlefield, where there was an Austro-Hungarian post and of course the only preserved high-mountain mosque of open type, as for dangers on the path careful walking and common sense are needed, as Darinka says you need to know yourself and your body, it is very demanding fitness-wise but interesting from a geological and historical perspective.

Perhaps it is also not negligible that on the path to Krn from Lepena you have 3 huts where you can refresh yourself, on the path to Rombon none.

Maybe it's a longer path if you start in Kluže and descend to Bovec. That's what we did a few years ago. Best regards!

Darinka, how long did this trail take you? LP

First we didn't hurry. Too bad the cable car starts only at 8 am. And not every day. Good to check beforehand. Also for the cable car price. Because it's not true you can buy only round trip, as someone wrote last year. We walked with all stops a bit more than 5 hours to the top. Descent to Zavrzelno with stop at Čukla less than 4 hours. Trip for the whole day. But I must write that the path is very poorly visible especially in the last part on the ridge, where we spotted some faded marking or cairn. Otherwise really very very interesting and solitary.

I don't know, Marjan arranged all that. It's on their website. You can use discount on pensioner card. We used it for Vogel too.

IMPORTANT Notice: 7.7.2019 Kanin is operating. Based on this notice, I'd say they decide on the spot based on conditions.

I think, at least in winter it was like that because of wind, they decide also or mainly based on weather forecast. In thunderstorm and gale people couldn't be brought down to valley, so caution is not superfluous

And if someone is a bit scared, already when gondola stops during ride, as it did when we rode it starts swaying and not very pleasant feeling. Let alone if wind blows?

From June 25 onwards the cable car operates every day. It depends on the weather though. For this year I don't know, in previous years you could go up already at 7 a.m., when employees go up. From 8 onwards it runs non-stop. As for the one-way ticket, they have it on the price list too, so obviously the student at the counter doesn't know everything. If you have a PZS membership card, show it right away, because the ticket is cheaper then.
