Traunsberg is 2778 meter high peak and is part of the Natural Park Gruppo di Tessa. The peak is located 4 km west-northwest from the center of Moos in Passeier - Moso in Passiria and 5 km northwest from the center of Platt - Plata. The nearest mountain hut is Schutzhütte Hochalm - Rifugio Hochalm, located 5km east. A bit closer is Unterprisch-Alm, which is located 1.7km to the southeast. 4 km west-southwest from the summit there is glacier Hochfirstferner, 4 km west-southwest from the summit there is also glacier Westlicher Seeber Ferner.
