Has anyone been up there today or yesterday? How much snow is there?

I went alone, there's just traces of snow, no problems.

I also went to TP yesterday, specifically via Žlebnica, returned via planina Grajšica. Snow is no obstacle here either, mists were drifting across all parts of the sky and the views were accordingly special just because of that. See here with path recording

... Black-and-white fantasy...
Snow before the saddle about 30-40 cm. Whiteness starts at 1300 meters. Views of the Julian Alps chain fantastic. Path was trampled, snowshoes stayed on the backpack.nasmehnasmeh

Today to Trupejevo poldne from Srednji Vrh via Železnica. Path is trampled and today winter gear not necessary, but recommended at summit. Trace of one hiker with crampons led further along ridge westwards, eastwards from saddle only outlines of footsteps towards Grajšica visible. More on link.

Today I went to check if it's really as Edina wrote. Trail from Srednji vrh to Železnica trampled (tracked vehicle), further nice gaz, new dry snow to saddle below Lepi vrh 10-15 cm. Further less snow. For last 200m elevation crampons recommended. Weather warm, strong wind on top. Views superb. From summit, well visited today, descended to horizontal path from saddle then to hunting hut.

Congratulations, beautiful tour, whose charm in my opinion is precisely that it's not too crowded

Janez, does that mean you returned past LK behind Lepi vrh? I'm interested in ridge approaches from the other side.

Thanks and happy trailsnasmeh

From the top we went some time along the ridge to the west, then straight down the slope and joined the path from the saddle under Lepi vrh to the west, joining the path from LK Železnica to the ridge. Edina, you probably mean the path to the east to LK Hladnik (never been there).

Yes, Janez, both paths to Hladnik valley I meant. When I was up, no tracks to the east were visible; I thought maybe you made a gazmežikanje. Thanks for the reply and happy trailsnasmeh

Edina - how is the dry descent to Hladnik valley - how is it with trackability and orientation? And also: which are those two paths (one through Grajšca)?

Yes, Janez, two variants to the east. This is
http://hribi.net/izlet/srednji_vrh_trupejevo_poldne_cez_grajsco/11/366/1275 and the second is via Žlebnica valley (northwest valley above LK behind Lepi vrh). The latter is maybe somewhat harder to follow in the upper part, don't know if a description exists anywhere, but it leads to the saddle between TP and Lepi vrh (1926m), which maps apparently have wrongly named, as it is called Peči, also Bele peči.

This is undoubtedly the finest part of the Karawanks ridge west of Kepa. It can be approached via several variants from Belca valley and if you have transport back, you can enjoy it all the way to Vošca or further. And when you traverse it for the first time, you will return and climb the side ridge that branches off south at Kresišče over Tišlerica, Mojstrovica to Visoki, also Kurji vrh in the Bavh ridge. And larches, silence and solitude will enchant you so much that you will come again and again and be thrilled by marmots, chamois, especially the views to the giants across the Sava. Several posts on my blog are dedicated to these wonderful corners, but far from having hiked everything that is obligatory to hike there...

@Janez, gaz over Grajšica to Kresišče is made. If there are more of you, you can go to Trupejevo poldne.
