The fence on Tolsti vrh looks completely different... And it's not my intention to argue. Just wondering if such fences are really needed. If shit bothers someone during snack, let them go 50m from the top and they'll have peace.

Obviously sitting on shit and smelling it is more 'appetizing' to you so your sandwich tastes better.

I thought sheep droppings bother only fine ladies, but I see they bother even those who think they're tough guys. That's it from me on your comments. Thanks for understanding.

Will they put up a fence for sandwich-eaters on Slemenova špica, Begunjščica and Veliki vrh (Košuta) too? zmeden

Summit should stay as it was. This net thing they've really botched and I think sooner or later strong wind or lightning will do their bit. Who will pick up net pieces in the gullies thenzavijanje z očmi

This mesh fence somehow doesn't fit on the mountain top for me either... the one on Tolsti vrh is completely different and fits there well, at least for me.

If it stays and the summit is cleared of shit, and becomes like it was years ago, maybe we'll repeat this.... velik nasmeh

@lijaneja
I have no problems sitting down, as always till now, some 50m lower. Not saying it was "yay" when summit was one big shithole, but this fence isn't much better. So it's about such fence really not fitting on mountain top. Anyway looks to me like they'll lock sheep/goats inside so bear and wolf won't attack them.

There are people to whom nothing fits.

All praise to individuals who spent their time fixing the mentioned problem - although the solution is inappropriate in my opinion.

The simplest and right solution would be to simply relocate sheep to another pasture or fence sheep in lower areas and prevent access to the summit, as they don't belong there for sure - applies to all hills, not just Storžič.

Put an electric shepherd on Begunjščica too, because one sheep there years ago didn't let me snack in peace. And I was hungry right at the summit. nasmeh

Let's turn all summits of our mountains into quiet zones so crowds of hikers are safe from animals and their waste there..

The summit was shat on like hell and if we put poles, crosses, other markers and summit logbooks on mountain tops for us people, I don't know why so much moralizing about one galvanized fence below the summit.

We should thank everyone who made the effort to install this fence. I believe they are experienced enough and studied the issue beforehand.

Personally the execution doesn't quite appeal to me, as for my taste it sticks too high into the air - a sheep half that height wouldn't jump it from below in my opinion. And it's even more prominent and taller looking because of those "floating in the air" wooden treads - I assume because there's a wooden cross on top too. Only such a slightly lower galvanized fence would blend better with the surroundings and I think still sufficiently functional.

Cows, sheep, goats in Italy and Austria on summits and around them as many as you want but they don't bother anyone. In Pakistan there were more than 50 thousand under one hill. Lp!

What's wrong with the 5-day forecast for individual peaks? It's been showing the same for several days.

I think many of you critics haven't been to the summit lately. Shit upon shit literally and it stank like in a barn. Already to prevent health problems something had to be done, even if you went eating somewhere below the summit.

But the fact that sheep graze on the alpine pasture is perfectly fine and I totally disagree with LunatixZ's opinion that sheep don't belong on pastures or should even be driven off them?! Sheep and locals were on the pastures before we mountaineers showed up...

If I'm willing to endure to reach the summit, I'll endure 15 more minutes of stink. Spoiled folk who think everything must be adapted to their comfort. At odds with common sense. Let's close farms in the valleys too. They stink as well.
