I see we'll start babbling pointlessly. Have a nice time in the mountains.

I agree we stop. Just this: Tinky read GOOD once more my text on svk use in my first post on conditions. ms primoz: ferrum=lat. iron, ferrata path protected w steel cables (steel is what?). So where'd you classify this ferrata http://www.hribi.net/slika.asp?pot=129905 from pl. Blato to pl. Krstenica? Tried 3x already to stop these off-topic ramblings...

When they renovated Aljaž Tower on Triglav a few years ago, I read from the constructors then that it was meant to last longer than it did, but besides forces of nature, human hanging on the fixed ropes, climbing on it etc. also eroded it... I wonder what the hell a mountaineer / hiker sees in hanging on those load-bearing ropes, as visible also on photo 17 of user Pantani. And this isn't any teasing, I'm really interested, because I think such behavior belongs somewhere else than in the mountain paradise.

Maybe someone knows what the path is like, if there is one at all, direct from the hut at Lovrenc through Široka dolina along the ridge to Storžič? Not via Javornik.

To the Javornik - Kališče traverse marked, further traceable, no snow except possible fresh fallen. Quite earthy and slippery in wet, accordingly slip risk. Dry no problems. Dare

Hi mlubej, the path from the church of St. Lovrenc above Bašelj exists. And it really goes almost directly to the top of Storžič, just deviates a bit in a few places. The path is one of the nicer approaches to the summit in my taste. Don't go on the path in sunny - summer weather, as it's a southern path and consequently quite "hot". We cover a bit more than 1000m elevation, slope can be 40%-50%. Summit in 3-4 hours. The path is steep, in wet steep grass can be fatal for slipping, harder to follow in some places, otherwise no special features. In the lower part follow the path through the forest (occasional marks), later come to open to the junction at the bench, where don't turn left or right, but head straight up along the left branch of the big gully, keep slightly left all the way until you reach the SW ridge. Along it or beside it towards the summit pyramid, which unfortunately is not yet the top. Descend to Kališče and below the hut find marks that lead towards Bašelj past the partisan hospital Košuta back to the parking under the hut-church-St. Lovrenc. If you need more info, just say. Attaching some photos. Nice regards and take care.

That's right, as described by en-goldy: relatively steep, hot, but very scenic path. Suitable also in winter, when the ridge above 1700 m quickly becomes snow-free, the more demanding part for slipping only below the subpeak. This is the nicest path to Storžič for me, you can't miss it. Good luck

Yesterday afternoon I tried the mentioned west-ridge path. Awesome, one of the better ones on Storžič. Steep and scenic, shame only that I ran into cloud... No snow anywhere anymore. Thanks for the descriptions. Lp

The only path we haven't hiked yet, but I think we'll do it soon. Probably the only problem is the heat, if you start later of course. LP!

Also for me the favorite path to Storžič, which isn't in the list of approaches to Storžič here. Somehow I discovered it a few years ago. Paragliders keep it for themselves somehow.

This is the "hunter's" along the southwest ridge. In summer it can be damn hot.

given that it snowed last weekend, I'm interested if it's snow-free through Žrelo?

This morning with my mountaineering buddy we visited Storžič, up through Žrelo, back via Škarjev rob. For those interested in conditions, the path is completely snow-free, so go ahead boldly. Conditions were excellent, views also excellent except for a bit of haze. More in photos.
