Here, just back, weather was beautiful, morning slightly cloudy, around 11 it cleared. Up there almost spring temps, summit quite visited. Met ca. 20 hikers from all directions, from Javornik, Kališče and Škarjev rob. Winter gear mandatory of course.

For a long time we with the group decided to visit Storžič but always something interfered. So on Thursday we decided to really "conquer" it. At the starting point we thought summit not destined for us this time too, as strong wind on top. At Bašelj-Storžič junction wind calmed a bit and new hope awoke. After hard snow trudging we reached summit anyway.

I went towards the summit in the afternoon around 1. It was very nice, indescribable. Tomorrow (23.02.2012) I'm going again, hope the conditions are favorable so we can tackle it again.

No no not from yesterday forgot to write Saturday, but you knew, sorry. Today tough.(08:10) Started from ŠD Bašel past water intakes to Kališče, first hour plowing 10 to 15 cm of snow, then to Kališče trampled, nice and nice weather too. (10:00) From Kališče, disastrous. I don't have enough fitness and experience to go through that. Got to the last junction before ascent to Storžič (11:00) and gave up, think I decided correctly, as everything was melting nothing trampled, sinking to knees several times even up to ass. Shame Next time, weather was really fantastic.

Was there yesterday (1.3.). Went from Mač. Snow starts at pl. Sp. Kališče, but the path is already from about 100 m lower (all the way to the hut) quite icy. From Bašeljski preval onwards the snow (as much as there is - not much) was crusty and at times sank to the knees. It went (this time) without crampons.

Today to Storžič from Bašelj via Kališče. Warm, conditions neither here nor there. Half the path dry, half snow (from Kališče onwards). Up with crampons and scraped half the way, down without. Snow the whole way south-facing.
