If you haven't got info on conditions above Matkov škaf, I tell you firsthand that avalanches from Mrzla and Krnička gora haven't gone yet and in avalanche paths under Hudi Danami still quite dangerous. Only use early morning hours and be safe by 10am. Otherwise wait till May, because before Škaf nothing to see yet. Škaf starts when last avalanches go. Nice greetings.

Yesterday view of Matkov škaf.
Not fully made yet, water still works it vigorously. Felt it while taking pics. Will be mighty again this year.
Lots of snow in walls above škaf and thus occasional cannonade of stones. Careful!
Think helmet wouldn't help against bigger rock. But highly recommended anyway. Winter gear in upper part too.
Access torn up by avalanches and lots of stones from Krnička gora. Now know what rattled last time with Zlatko at Matkov window.

Nice shot, Drago. You really are in love with Matkov Kot and the peaks above it.
So, the path above the Škaf towards Mrzla and Krnička gora is still not safe, due to falling large rocks even with winter gear. You described the conditions above the Škaf nicely and well, and that's the sense of posting on the Hribi.net portal. Bravo!
When the conditions improve we'll talk about that tour I suggested. Of course, with Zlatko and Vinko.

In picture 4 from 7.5.2014 it was already at the bottom on one side!

Yesterday in Matkov Škaf.
This year it's really worth seeing.
On Sunday 1.6.2014 there is an organized hike.
For visiting the Škaf it's smart to choose early hours, still flying down from Krnička, and snow punches through more later - we used microspikes - towards the top it slid quite a bit without them. Descent pure enjoyment, otherwise twice on that ass..., but nothing for it.
Visible traces of numerous avalanches that rushed into the valley, also lots of scree on the snow.

Regarding Matkov Škaf, given the amount of snow the Škaf will last long - if it melts at all. Last year maybe 5-7 m deep, this one at least 2x bigger, so .... Really beautiful

Yes, bojson, you've shown it qualitatively and vividly. Such path presentations are lacking on this site. Just a small remark (maybe); I've gone to Mrzla gora past Matkov Škaf 3 times; but I doubt the one in your picture is "the real one". Greetings!
