Maybe someone knows, or if someone has been up there recently, is the Studlgrat ridge completely dry?

thanks

At AO Rašica you have two records about Studlgrat:

You can send them an email, they'll reply

On Friday I went over Stüdlgrat and it's dry, passable without crampons. To the start of the ridge though crampons are of course recommended... From Stüdlhütte you reach snow in about half an hour, then another half hour on snow to the ridge entry. Summit and little Grossglockner were in snow, crampons highly recommended, if not mandatory.

Hi smile

This Wednesday and Thursday 12. and 13. 08. 15 I plan to visit and climb Grossglockner again. And the weather will be okbig grin From Friday onwards weather worsening up there..... Departure from MB. Everyone goes at own risk and can go alone, own pace... if we share transport costs, it's cheaper for all, right wink And I'm drivingwink

We had another beautiful day on the king of the High Tauern. There's really little snow, only the glacier is full of crevasses. It was great, only the drive is a bit far. Well, dinner was still on time at home.

Dejan - did you do the tour in one day; if so how long did drive and hike take? I looked a bit, you went the harder route, there's a much easier one, right?

@janez.novak - Dejan wrote in his blog that there was no congestion before the Karawanken Tunnel, just to note that I went with a colleague the day before on the same tour and we waited around half, maybe three quarters of an hour. Just for info, if the tour is planned in August, it is good to account for the possibility of road traffic jams.

Of course in one day, at half past two we started from Tržič. True, there was no congestion up and back in the tunnel—really interesting, I'm not used to that. Here the problem is only driving time, because there isn't that much hiking in terms of hours, if you step a bit faster of course.

good luck

After a long time, or almost exactly after four years, I stood again on this summit very dear to me. The adventure started on Wednesday late afternoon, when we loaded the luggage of the last two participants into the car. The drive was pleasant, as there was little traffic. So we arrived just after ten through Kals at the parking lot by Lucknerhaus hut 1920m. There three of us dozed off a little in sleeping bags, two in the car. I don't like sleeping in the car myself, as I like to stretch.nasmeh I set the alarm for three, for me that's the latest possible. I woke up at two and started packing. Soon the others were awake too and we ate breakfast with pleasant chatting. At three we were already walking by headlamp light along the path by the torrent Kodnitzbach towards Luknrhute hut 2241m, above us clear starry sky. A bit above the hut we turned right for Burgwartscharte 3102m on the right side of Koednitz-Kees glacier. I had a slightly wrong idea in memory where to turn for this saddle and almost got tangled up.zadrega Just below the glacier the day greeted us in perfect clearness. Grossglockner summit was already sunlit and besieged by countless climbers. The last part of the path to the entry into the wall under the saddle goes over Koednitz-Kees glacier, which has shrunk considerably since my last visit, not to speak of how much the Pasterze glacier on the north side has shrunk. The path over Burgwartscharte to Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte hut is very demanding, but also very well equipped with belays, all in excellent condition. After rest and refreshment before the hut we continued to the summit in 3+2 combination. We three soon stood on Kleineglockner 3783m and agreed there on what to do next. The youngest among us Onohej decides that for the first time it's enough here and I tell him to wait for us therenasmeh. He already couldn't believe what he had achieved. Milan and I then continued quickly to the summit. On the summit we congratulate each other and spend some wonderful moments in cheerful chat with three Slovenes with views reaching Triglav and beyond. Looking at Kleineglockner we notice with Onohej also the other two team members. After descent we gathered again at Adlessruhe. This time we had very good conditions for the summit, as the newly fallen snow from a few days ago had completely melted on both summits, only icy in a few spots. We descended along the path to Studl-Hütte 2802 m, but under Koednitz-Kees glacier we turned down left on the shortcut and thus shortened the path considerably.cool We ended the perfect day with washing in the warm water of the torrent and munching goodies that were waiting in the car for the next two days, which belongs to another story.nasmehnasmehOf course I must not forget to mention that the other four stood for the first time on the king and subkingnasmehof the High Tauern and Austria. Congrats again to all and thanks for the pleasant company on the tour.
Regards and safe steps to all from under the beautiful Golts, Janez

Today from Kals to Veliki Klek, started walking just after 3 and thus on glacier before sunrise. On ridge quite full of ropes, but excellently equipped. Just below summit someone's accident, professional rescue, quick. We went 2 per rope. Back to valley same or shortcut. That day I specially insured myself for mountain accidents when visiting foreign mountains.

I was also there for the first time on Grossglockner...1-2.10.
Conditions good up to cca 3200 m, then fog and gale wind... so the tour stayed more in memory than if ideal.
