Great, no drainage. Where did you overnight? Is there enough snow on the glacier to dare without rope?

We stayed overnight in the winter room (Stüdlhütte hut) which is heated and well equipped. The glacier is fully covered in snow. Good luck

Grossglockner 20.04.2018.
Lucknerhaus-Lucknerhütte-Stüdlhütte-Adlersruhe-Kleinglockner-Grossglockner.

Good conditions for climbing. Started from Stüdlhütte at 4:15. Reached summit at 8:45.
Dog, no skis.

On Saturday early morning we meet in Lesce and head to Kals.
Just before 7am we start past Lucknerhutte hut towards Stuedlhutte. There a compatriot greets us who waits for friends; they left early morning after a sleepless night in the winter room towards the summit, we snack a bit, check the bivouac and soon continue across the glacier.
Conditions were excellent and to Erzherzoge-Johann hutte winter gear stays in or on the backpack. We take a longer break with snack, put on winter gear and go slowly to the summit.
Conditions excellent, most teams returning, many Slovenians among them with whom we chat nicely and after 1h 20min we are at the cross nasmeh

Better conditions than we had you can't wish for, super snow, on descent a bit icy - carefully, windless, great views, summit just for us ladies and the hour of enjoyment passes too quickly... nasmeh

We return carefully to the hut where we take another break with solid snack and slowly to the valley where refreshment awaits. Tour with all breaks lasted 12h...

Already on the path to Kals we know that we won't lack water today ;).

Newly arranged parking lot with parking meter, toilets, shower... for all-day parking you need to pay 10€, lower down there is a barrier where you get the P ticket.

It greets us nicely and we wish each other a good walk and safe steps... and we start.

After 10 minutes of walking, a newly rolled road awaits us.. still a lot of snow.

All huts are currently still closed, both have a winter room.

There are still many snow tongues and they are nicely passable.

Stuedlhuette at 2802m, where we pleasantly feast with a compatriot

winter room with necessary equipment, there was a big crowd so it was hard to rely on a free bed

all the time we observe and admire it ...

Erzherzog-Johannhutte 3454m, we put on winter gear and slowly towards the summit

conditions and circumstances - fairy-tale-like...

up to here it went with crampons and poles, then we put them aside and with ice axes ...

little Klek, just the notch and we'll be on the big one...

for me the most demanding detail of the tour - the notch between the two Kleks

from the notch it's just a few meters and you're on the long-desired summit

hard to describe the moments of enthusiasm ...

another look at the conquered summit, thanks to the mountain that was exceptionally favorable to us

after the demanding descent, a bit or rather quite chaotically each on their own towards the hut...

for well-deserved refreshment and enjoyment of the views

Today 21.9.2018. From Kals to Grossglockner. We overnighted in the Studlhütte hut, next day (day like from dreams) couldn't have wished for a nicer one past Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte to the dreamy summit with the Imperial Cross.

Studlgrat (10.08.19)

Starting point as usual Neues Lucknerhaus, although we even thought of starting lower in Teischnitztal. Return there. Just before 5am we headed to Studlhütte, where there were already small queues towards the ridge. Winter gear on the glacier, although the surface was manageable without crampons too. The ridge was like every year, nice-interesting. Weather super. Summit just after 10am. Descent to Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte, midway need to put on crampons of course due to quite some ice, otherwise all melting nicely. Quick descent via Kodnitzkees to the hut. Two mates came to meet us and so all went to Teischnitztal. Karawankentunnel no problems, dinner at normal time.

Probably one of the last nice weekends before the snow dump. So Vasja and I decide to go and of course, since the weather is nice there was the expected crowd. In the morning around 5 we set off from the starting point Lucknerhaus and quickly reach Studlhütte, and go to the winter room to refuel a bit. Then we continue towards Erzherzog Johann Hütte, at the hut it was blowing pretty hard. After a short stop onwards to the summit, when we reach the ridge of the little Klek everything stopped, after cca 30 min waiting we both decided to turn around and go down. It wasn't moving neither forward nor backward.
Otherwise an exceptional experience, as the larches are fully golden in the valley.
