Boskovec

Thanks to your comments and photos I decided today to go to Boskovec. Start in Šmihel, via Gosteče to Mozirska koča. To Boskovec via Severjeva trail, back a bit roundabout (towards Kal, to Istej and back). Sunny and occasionally cloudy up top, valley in fog. Snow just right amount all the way, fun to walk on. We'll come again! Regards.

Such little roses grow in winter in the alpine garden.

Today with a friend to Boskovec via Konečka planina and back over Požganija. Phenomenal views, little snow and hot like spring. Total opposite of mayda's pics from a week ago. We met otiv who was enjoying in merry company on Jugov travnik.

Keber farm-Mozirska koča-Boskovec-Kal-Smrekovec and nicely back.
From Mozirska koča to Boskovec and Kal I went first even though it was already 12. Just right for a bit of trailbreaking. nasmeh

Snow about 10-15 cm, in drifts up to knees.
From Kal to hut under Smrekovec we two were probably the first to break trail. From hut to top of Smrekovec again wide beaten track. And of course sunshine. nasmeh

Today on Boskovec past Keber and via hunter's trail over Požganija. Back via Istej and Mozirska koča. Indeed, we didn't have as nice weather as Bbrina yesterday, but still fine.

. I was also up on Smrekovec yesterday morning, but sadly the view from the top was all fog. Saw only as far as Stare stane. At 11 the fog started to lift but I had to head home early mrk pogled

Yesterday on the last nice day before a longer period of bad weather the goal was again Boskovec. Path to Mozirska hut is almost entirely dry and spring muddy. At the hut, where the caretakers are really friendly, we stopped for tea, then I continued alone on still snowy and icy Severjeva to Boskovec summit. Complete opposite of windless to the hut, from it onwards a really strong westerly accompanied me. I returned via Verbučeva planina, past the hunting observatory and over Požganija. That path was yesterday still mostly snowy and icy in places.

To the Mozirska hut only this: whoever doesn't stop at the hut and of course enters through the door can regret it.

I mentioned the Mozirska hut because in recent years, for decades the hut had no luck with caretakers. It seems to me that they all wanted only to earn and invest nothing, friendliness and good service were totally foreign to them. So the hut deteriorated more and lost its reputation. Now with the new caretakers better times seem to be coming for the hut, especially for the hut's visitors. The friendliness and service of Mrs. Katice and Mr. Danilota are worthy of all praise. They also have big plans. Changes are already visible. I must praise the new, especially clean sanitary facilities. Apparently the beds have also been refurbished. Those were still the first ones. Changes are also noticeable in all other rooms.
I heartily hope that everything planned succeeds and that the Mozirska hut will again be as a mountain hut should be.

We spent the beginning of January a whole two hours in the hut with pleasant chat with both, of course with good food and strudel. And we had to quench our thirst too. nasmeh

... and got a whole lot of info.

Yesterday I spent another nice day with the ascent to Boskovec. I went up past the farmer Zagradišnik and then towards Verbuč and from there along a new hunting path for me to the summit. Snow only on the top and even that melting fast. Soon morels will grow velik nasmeh

. Back via Severjeva and down below Alpski vrt. That part of the path is very interesting, as hikers on it await a special flu remedy, and it's free too. velik nasmeh

Of course, the remedy must be taken wisely, because the path ahead is quite exposed. velik nasmeh

Almost a month has passed since my last ascent to Boskovec, way too long. So today I headed up. Avriklji blooming so nicely everywhere. So many that the rocky slopes are yellow. Also the hen of the capercaillie enchanted me scratching in the dry soil but when I reached for the camera it flew away. Above Kebrova farmstead I observed roe buck and doe grazing. On return roe buck barked at me above Gostečnik. Obviously didn't like me on his territory. Tower on Boskovec so damaged can't safely climb it. Hope Šmihelani will take care of renovation or erect new one. Snow for snowballs still to be found.

Still safe grazing, because hunting season has not started yet.

It was cold today on the Golte. Really frozen, crunching even under shoes. jezen

After rain I like to go up because I can walk almost silently and observe wildlife. But today nothing with my silence. velik nasmeh

But nice again as always. Let the pictures tell how.

Nice, Janez, but I'm afraid that with stalking wildlife you disturb them too much, I think animals need their peace, that's why things like some bear wandering onto the highway happen, not to mention beached whales and sea sharks that swim right to the coastal strip zavijanje z očmi

Yeah that's how it is, the human factor is to blame for most, unfortunately negative things zavijanje z očmi

But don't take it personally now Janez, it's not aimed at you, especially the last part is meant generally.

Yesterday on Boskovec. Went up in pleasant and especially fast company via Požganija and Verbučeva planina. Didn't stop at summit because thunderstorm brewing. It caught me despite running, a bit above Golička loka. Since I don't like walking in rain, sheltered under huge old spruce and went on completely dry, just had to slow step because of wet path.
