Hello. We too yesterday afternoon after work visited Boskovec in all its winter beauty. From Javorca onwards we followed your tracks. I'm interested in the path you usually choose from Žekovec to Javorca, I think it's a hunting path or similar. Thanks for the track and nice greetings.

for Ajka and Thiro the biggest reward is taking them on my hill roamings. Yesterday she was really a bit tired and needed help in the snowiest spots. Otherwise for her age 13 years (13x7=91 human years) in very good shape. Of course after each such tour she gets a hearty meal for recovery. velik nasmeh

Interestingly, that's not what she likes as you list, but she prefers dry bread and some bone. Cuddling comes naturally. velik nasmeh

there is no usual path to Javorca for me, because almost every time I try to go up and back a bit differently. There are really many variants, to Javorca alone I know at least 30. We can go up together sometime, it will be less time-consuming than me describing it in detail. velik nasmeh

Already Bbrina under Golte wrote that it's a real winter fairy tale on Golte. New snow over 30 cm too. To Planinska ravan and bench in Požganija track already made, further all virgin. A bit worried for Ajka how she'd follow, but more persistent than me. velik nasmeh

Uphill I waited for her, downhill she waited for me. velik nasmeh

So we tracked over Javorca to Boskovec summit, back to Javorca and down gully under Koprivna peč cool

to path from Mozirska koča. On return watched herd of six chamois under Koprivna peč, camera battery empty. jezen

I waited on Tuesday for your report Janez, before I went up there in the evening. Now we have your pics and report today. Really nice.
On Tuesday we two with Kala thought of Boskovec but too late and descend in the dark, but mostly no more such challenges (he,he, velik nasmeh

).

We too walked a bit in the Mozirje hills yesterday. Did a circular tour past Mozirska koča over Planina to the Boskovec summit and then over Javorca back to the valley.
Real winter idyll as predecessors describe, all powder, no trouble making tracks.

Today I was on Boskovec on skis from Pleška planina. Road from Zg. Goltnik plowed all the way to Konečko and Pleška planina and unusable for skiing down. Road was due to south-facing snow quite demanding to drive and quite muddy. Since it was already bare in several places, I drove the car to where the road starts descending to Konečko and Pleška planina. From there I continued on skis. But I made a mistake by not waxing the skins at home when they were still dry. I started the tour only at 11am and therefore the wet south snow stuck to the skins. On wet skins, waxing is then rather futile. The descent was quite good given the snow quality.

Yesterday 23.2.2012 Circular path Šmihel-Boskovec1587m-Srekovec-Šmihel. Decided to skip Mozirje hut and went up steep pathless terrain to the alpine pasture below Boskovec huge snow most on the pasture not trodden in places, above pasture reached trodden track. From Boskovec summit 1587m towards Srekovec trodden hut closed. Then descent Beli Vode-Šoštanj lower at junction left Šoštanj right Kramarica to Šmihel-Mozirje 7h.

The path starts straight past the school

By the road the Snežki family greets you

From that sign a little further then right into the forest

Unmarked higher up you reach the marked path coming from the left

At this sign we do not turn left onto the plain but right into the forest

The tower is in poor condition climbing it is at your own risk

In some places it was really dark like in the forest

Koča Miru might be open during holidays but empty Fika is in winter hibernation

If the owner is home he charges you 5eur for the big need

We meet the Snežak family again, who are in poor condition due to the warm weather

When we arrive in Šmihel we can refresh at BAZA BAR, now open from 10 o'clock

We built snowmen on our meadow, my daughter and I, so they would greet passers-by. They had a short life because of the warm weather. Greetings from Šmihel

Yesterday we went to Boskovec with David. We started later because better weather was forecast for the afternoon. On the way up, the views weren't much because the fog persisted. From Javorca to Boskovec it was lightly snowing. Only on Boskovec it started clearing. So we lingered longer at the hunting observatory above Požganija and enjoyed the view. The path from Žekovec past Gosteč to the bench in Požganija was mostly dry, from there on via Koprivna peč snowy. From Javorca to Boskovec also icy.

Already last night when it cleared I knew today would be great weather for hiking. And yes, morning well below zero, at home dry and blooming trees, up there up to 30cm fresh powder. What more could I wish for. Nothing. Just enjoyed. velik nasmeh

Yesterday I went to Boskovec via a bit longer path. At Korte I turned left towards Tiršek and climbed via Tirške peči to Konjski vrh. When I carried Ajko and Thiro over the pegs they just looked at me strangely. velik nasmeh

From Konjski vrh I continued past the lake to Stare stane towards Istje. There I enjoyed building a cairn. velik nasmeh

Then of course to Boskovec(35x) and to my bivouac under Javorca. There I was overjoyed velik nasmeh

looking at the new addition in the snack bar. Zlatko thanks, the medica is excellent. velik nasmeh

All Javorca is in blooming crocuses. Followed descent over Požganija where I built another cairn that few will find. velik nasmeh

Obviously this cairn mania is increasingly captivating me. velik nasmeh

So what if it feels so good. velik nasmeh

I've been in this beautiful area for three days already. But, after the drink under the rock, it goes very badly nasmeh

(won't you find where it is?)
So, if you wander around the rocks and find the "path" to the drink, enjoy a sip in peace.

I'm repeating myself, but it was so great again that I have to write something. Yesterday I was on Boskovec this year already the 40th time and every time it's nice. Up via Korte and on towards Tiršek to watch for the eagle nesting in Tirške peči. Nothing there as two climbers were so noisy while climbing that all life hid. But I think I saw a peregrine falcon though they say it doesn't nest here anymore. Avriklji on the climbing path are already in the final phase of blooming but still very nice. The continuation of the path along the climbing route to Konjski vrh and on to Boskovec was pure pleasure. Meadows are already full of flowers.

Last weekend with my dearest this year the 50th time on Boskovec. Someone might say boring but for me every time nice. Sometimes with someone, sometimes with dogs, sometimes alone. Discovered some new paths, made some myself, built many cairns, picked up trash, watched wildlife, trampled virgin snow, shivered in cold and sweated in heat, enjoyed wonderful views, climbed, met known and unknown people, photographed, overcame at least 60000vm, walked at least 300 hours and always sought something new.

Snowy Sunday morning, hooray, snow is back! Agreed decision "on foot to Mozirska planina." From Rečica to Borseka by road, where their friendly Medo joined us. At the monument we turned left to Mozirska koča, my silent wish over Tirske peči will have to wait until the snow melts or freezes a bit. On Ston we waded about 15 cm of wet snow, and it was snowing all the time. Towards Boskovec it started blowing too, so after signing we quickly returned to Javorca and Janez's bivouac. Supplies are slowly diminishing. No views due to fog and snowing, just calm peace and virgin whiteness - real balm for the soul, even animals hid in shelter. We returned the same way as we had to return our fellow traveler Medo home. Exhausted and frozen, but happy after five hours back home.
