Tibet are fine for their price. But they are bad on wet rocks and leaves. They hold in snow though. Of course you can get a cat in a bag with any brand.

For me and my foot and way of use only Sportiva and Salewa (had only one model). What you say that the sole slips is a matter of an improper sole. Gotta say Alpina as per my experience has a suitable sole, it just lacks in other elements.

@Branee
do you also mount cost-effective stuff on the car?

Khm ... Yes, and you don't?

Of course not! Especially with cars it shows if you put OEM or aftermarket! zmedenCheap variants ala made in china and similar crap don't hold even quarter of what OEM holds.

Alpina Tibet tested yesterday on orienteering in Slivnica (aka Paridol), which also included descents on 40-50° slopes full of wet leaves, today in rainy weather on wet via ferrata in Labot (Lavamünd).
As you see I'm alive, I can assure (from forum not visible), that I'm completely uninjured.
Obviously not that bad.

I'm interested in experiences and opinions of Alpina Diablo users. Plan to buy them for high mountains.

Yes, , they taught us in school , before , which , when , because , that and if , comma jumps. From then, much time has passed. Should refresh knowledge. Agree!

I need advice on selection. It's a compromise between model / price and usability

after almost two years I'm taking up a bit more hill walking. I like to venture also into something more demanding (climbing, via ferratas).
The sale at Alpina ends this week, and I'm facing a tough dilemma. Namely, my old shoes (alpina) need replacing. I read almost all forums on the topic, what to choose. While the saleswoman at alpina convinced me that the Lhotse model is perfect for me (really, I want a slightly more mountaineering winter boot) she also convinced me I'd walk in them in summer without issues.

my opinion is that in summer, on hiking tours (difficulty Storžič, Kamniške, etc, in short nothing serious climbing) I'll simply destroy them. It's true I have winter mountaineering boots (K2), which will also soon need replacing..

would it pay more to get some summer ones? model Tibet or Nepal? or even Tundra? Are Lhotse so tough that they survive summer tours too, and comfortable to wear in summer as well?

it's true, as much as I'd like to spend everything I have on two pairs of shoes (approx 150 + 100€), I can't justify that xD

every opinion helps, definitely

For now I swear by Planika. I have the Jalovec model and this boot is wonderful for me. Good for climbing and normal walking. Not too heavy and made for wide feet. Otherwise I think there's no boot that can't be quickly destroyed e.g. in a good season. Best

last year I bought alpina shoes, with discount they were about 106 €, they soak through even though it says they don't, heavy, but all that would be ok, if it didn't burn like hell downhill walking, this year I bought salomon, they are like slippers, comfortable, feet don't burn, bought online, sale time, I survived that unnecessary expense, alpina definitely never again

Not every boot fits every foot. If old Alpinas served well, no reason not to buy them again. Of course there are differences between models. I for example have Alpina Peak for winter, Tibet for summer. Never any blisters or burning feet, even after long tours (10+ hours walking). Every boot soaks if you walk long enough in rain (none holds 8 hours, except - allegedly - if impregnated with beef tallow).
Alpina boots are usually a bit heavier than comparable imports (but also much cheaper).

Regarding one or 2 pairs...if you plan to hike a lot both winter and summer, better 2 pairs. If just occasional winter tour, one pair is enough.

Hello,
as the previous one wrote, it depends a lot on how much you plan to hike in summer and winter.
With winter or all-year ones it can get tiring in summer especially on 10hr+ tours over rocks and scree.
So if you plan to hike a lot both winter and summer I recommend doubles. For occasional winter strolling lighter "summer" ones are fine but watch out because on some mid-high models the gaiter can ride up at the heel so snow gets in.
Or consider low hiking shoes or trainers you carry and change into when the path isn't demanding anymore.

Best.

Trobec, I've already read your comments
and they were helpful before and are now. thanks and exactly that, Peak and Tibet I checked and thought about the same option, two boots, one summer, one winter. The saleswoman kind of pushed Lhotse on me anyway, saying it's for all seasons etc..

especially as you said.

"Regarding one or 2 pairs...if you plan to hike a lot both winter and summer, better 2 pairs. If just some occasional winter tour, one is enough."

it will be smartest to buy good summer ones, which will also do light winter tours, for winter tours I still have some, old but still usable.

the main point of my doubt was whether one boot can replace 2..even if quality, obviously not, right?

Hello! I use the lotse model for my adventures and have to admit I'm extremely satisfied with themnasmeh! Good, reliable lacing, very good leather part and for such a "massive" boot quite good breathability. But it's true the protective rubber peels off quicklyjezen. However that's just leather protection and nothing else. Given that replacing the entire sole costs 40€ I see no problem. The sole anyway becomes worn and slippery after a few years and it's good to replace it for safety.
