Maybe you pay 400 eu just to brag about it, people read it, then go to Šmarno goro with Himalayan gear, on the other hand you meet a Belgian at 2000m in slippers.

No matter how you turn it, Alpina's quality has fallen below every level. Years ago I had some Alpina shoes without issues for years. This year after 6 years I replaced Asolo boot with Alpina Vision (VX 953) and after 3!!! trips (in 14 days) took it back for warranty due to peeled-off sole! And then they wonder why people prefer to buy foreign shoes. But true, with warranty they don't complicate.

Well, I'll say something more on the "gojzarjev" topic, because I have my own experience this year even though it's neither Alpina nor winter boot... first La Sportiva Trango S Evo I bought this year in May and after a month took them back, as the front part of the shoe-rubber cracked, tread visibly reduced, thinned... got new ones and after four months took back again, as front rubber on sole is completely gone and higher up cracked again, sole tread "magically" disappeared... these are summer boots, also a bit over 200 euros, otherwise super model that fits my foot, and true I walk a lot, but sometimes I wonder if these are boots for high mountains, as a couple of months is still too quick for a boot to wear out or not?! and bad luck sticks to me but I'll have new boots again, just to find one suitable model... again

yeah that's it. You've exposed me. I'm going to cry on a tree. I see it makes no sense, you didn't get it. Maybe you don't even want to.

In Alpina it's worth buying boots when they have -50%, which happens 1x/year and the sale lasts a few days; if I track this sale next year, I'll let you know. I got Alpina Tibet at -50%, worth those 80-90 euros. Paying 200 euros for Alpina boots is a bit too much; add a bit more and buy decent ones at Iglu Sport or elsewhere.

I had Alpina VX957 or 953, anyway the shoe super comfy, never blisters, but quality a disaster. After one month they peeled off at the toes, complaint, got back sanded leather, again two months later peeled again, complaint again, she said they'll replace if next time. It happened after 2 months again, but this time had to sew them, and they didn't replace though already 4th repair and when fifth time peeled after another 2 months the one-year warranty was over. And I support Slovenian products that's why I bought Alpina and thanks, never again.

Let me add my experience: in Tuš five years ago "with stars" I bought some Alpina "whatever" hiking shoes. Wore them all seasons, did about 60 two-thousanders with them, not mentioning other hikes. Except worn soles no major damage on them. Not exaggerating - Tinky can confirm. I must have "hit the jackpot"...

I can confirm that my Alpinines have already seen the shoemaker three times in less than a year

For now, I can only rate the quality of Alpina boots as excellent. In 9 months I did quite a lot of nice tours, both in winter and summer conditions, with no negative experiences . I feel like the shoes were made just for me ...they perfectly hug the ankle, and are wide enough... I have the Nepal model...

I myself had quite a few Alpina shoes in the past and was very satisfied with them. But last year I bought the model Kekec666 mentions and sadly can only confirm his statements regarding quality.

With shoes it's really like with a wife. You either had luck with the choice or you didn't. Too big - too small, quiet or squeaking, wear out quickly or reach a high age, and worst of all, they can be stolen from you.

Anyway, as I see, they don't make this model anymore. It looks like there were problems; they were made in Austria, not Slovenia, as I'm informed. Regarding comfort and everything I have no complaints, but that they peel off in the first month, thanks a lot for such a shoe. At home we all have bad experiences with Alpina .. Those Nepal that Katty mentions look OK, but I've sworn off Alpina, no thanks..

Hi, I'm buying hiking boots Alpina Lhotse (price 219 euros). Since Alpina has a 2=1 deal I'm looking for someone who would buy boots at Alpina for as similar price as possible (hiking, running, ski boots...anything), so we'd both save 50%. Interested please call me asap at 031823595. Best regards, Jan

As for Alpina shoes I also have bad experiences because after two mountain visits the sole came off.

I have Alpina Lhotse. They weren't cheap but I'm very satisfied with them. They blistered me only on the first hike, then nothing more. I use them in summer and winter although they are meant to be more for winter...
