Alpina has -50% off on Teton, Peak, Anapurna boots until the end of the month, if I'm not mistaken. For sizes you have to call, as some places have only certain sizes left.

I have Alpina Nepal boots. From the wearing perspective they are OK for me. I'm interested in the leather durability. Already on the first wear I cut them on a sharp rock. The cut is about 2 cm long and quite deep. Yesterday I wore them with mini crampons Veriga Lesce. On all parts where the chain and rubber gripped the leather they are heavily damaged. Like brushed with sandpaper. Are these boots even suitable for crampons? Barely worn a few times they look like 20 years old

For several years I've been wearing Alpina boots and nothing like that has happened to me. So far I've changed soles once and that's it. Great boots for me

m_b, how do you use those crampons? I use the same combo, no trace anywhere. The boot has protective rubber all around, so it's a very robust model. Normally the chain can't even touch the leather on this model. Also not clear to me how you could cut the leather on the rock. I'm generally very satisfied with Alpina boots, swear by Tibet V model, which is by far the most comfortable. True I change it about every four years, consequence of quite intensive use. And price-wise Alpina is most accessible for me. In sale you catch good ones for about 100€...

As I say, the boots are super for me to wear. But I don't like that they get more destroyed with every hike. I don't consider myself clumsy and I take care, but with these it seems I have no luck. The chain reaches a bit over the black rubber in front. On one boot it even tore it a bit . That the chain goes over the black rubber didn't please me from the start, but there is no other option. Next time I'll be more careful with the mounting, and see where the trick is.

How much the chain overhangs probably depends on the combination of crampon and boot size. My boots are size 45, crampons Veriga Lesce Mount Track XL (45-48). And you have to tension the rubber insanely to get them on at all.

m_b, if it hasn't been long since the purchase, take them back and complain a bit. The same happened to my girl with Alpina boots. I forgot which model she had, but in two trips she wore out the leather so they looked catastrophic. They resisted a bit, but in the end gave in. The damage she had was like yours on the first two pics.

From the pics I'd say it's a BIG exaggeration about the "damages" from crampons. Sharp rock of course cuts into the leather, and on suede it's even more visible.

I also think that something else will give out before the leather tears

Matej_K., yesterday I needed crampons again. With my combination the chain is 3-4 cm over the leather on the front part of the boot. The damage is greatest there. The sliding of the leather continued, but not as bad as the first time...

Does anyone have experience with Alpina NUPTSE 623N1 167e (link)? Especially interested in quality and durability (maybe some personal experiences?) Alternatives are Mammut KENTO HIGH GTX MEN 164e (link) and maybe even better choice La Sportiva TRANGO GUIDE EVO GTX 171e (link). My experiences with Alpina are rather poor, sole disintegrated (true they were a bit old), acquaintance had back sole delaminate after few trips on La Sportiva

La Sportiva Trango Tech GTX. Fresh purchase. I gotta say I'm very satisfied after the first hikes... but need to get used to them, as they are softer on top, let everything in when walking long back to the car otherwise in over 50 years of hiking "destroyed quite a few different brands... we all know... boot has to "fit the foot" and obviously depending where you need it

Too bad for Alpina that the quality of the Tibet model went down.

I also notice that with Tibet the quality is no longer the same as with the older ones. Still, the current ones should hold about 80 trips (that's 400+ hours of walking). p.s., what did you do with those in the picture?
