Mine fell apart after 4 Lubniks! Alpina is really fake stuff, or they say Chinese make them, and in Žiri they just stick the name on! Damn Žirovci or crossbreeds between giraffe and sheep!

Bought Alpina hiking boots for 50 euros-on sale, been with them many places, at least 10,000 m elevation and still like new.....2 years ago bought Deichmann hiking for 50 euros, walked only about 2000 m elevation with them and they went to trash or I carried them a bit at home.

I have to comment on your criticism of Alpina boots. I have Alpina model VX 953 bought 07/2008. With them I've done a lot of tours, at least 110,000 vm, and they are still in good condition, and in the closet already half a year new ones just like them in reserve.
If that happened to you as you describe, with proper maintenance and valid receipt, they will surely exchange them for new ones in Alpina.

It's like with cars. Some still drive in Yugos, for some Mercedes wears out after a few 10000 km.
I also have winter Tetons for some time and I'm very satisfied with them.
cebelar9, if you really had these boots only twice then probably you didn't take them off for several days or bought used ones, as they look quite worn (from photo), also leather and not just soles.
True Alpina makes boots in China, Romania and surely elsewhere, but that's no secret as it says on the boots.

They mistakenly exchanged my Alpina Vision 953 boots in the hut (See forum). I was very satisfied with Alpina boots so I bought new ones - again Alpina. Hope they will serve me as well as the old ones.
In Alpina you can claim one year warranty with receipt.

Of course it's no secret; I wanted GRANGERS impregnation cream, based on beeswax, exclusively for leather footwear, but since they didn't have it, in Alpina they recommended Nilfett (Collonil from Austria) for leather, last year's price just under 5 EUR; for ordinary mortals it's quite O.K.; previous Planika shoes became a bit water-permeable due to "age" last year (wet socks), but I used this cream and the issue was fully remedied and I had no problems neither in snow nor when wet; so I used it also for "these new ones", supposedly good preventively; Grangers Impregnation is apparently one of the better ones, at least I read that on this forum, and it's not expensive either; regards
