Ajdna

Description of peak:
Ajdna is a peak with a beautiful view of Hochstuhl, Jelovica, Pokljuka and the Julian Alps. Part of the Gornjesavska valley between Žirovnica and Jesenice is also visible. Ajdna is also known for its archaeological site. There was a mountain settlement here as early as the fifth to sixth centuries. The first Christian church in Slovenia was built on Ajdna. It is not known who the patron saint of the church was, but mass is held every last Saturday in June on the spot where the church used to stand. In addition to the church, other finds have been restored and protected by a roof to prevent the restoration from being destroyed. There is a registration book on top.
