Yesterday Škofja Loka mountaineers climbed Zadnjiški Ozebnik. Start from parking in Zadnjica. To the starting point on the mountain takes a full two hours. To the summit another two hours. There is a path junction. From there to Prehodavci. To this, I'd say loner that we observe from Prehodavci, only one unmarked path leads. Twice you almost have to crawl under scrub, because the path is a bit exposed. To that junction on the mountain we crossed even some snowfields, but they pose no problem. On the mountain itself enough space for two large groups. After us another group came up and we met some individuals ascending when descending. The mountain rewarded us with wonderful views. Right in front virtually all Triglav surroundings, mighty sheer wall of Kanjavec, Prehodavci, Velika Špiča. Had really super weather. Returned via path to Trenta, which is friendlier for approach. Runs all along friendly mulattiera high above gorge which is still full of snow. Passed planina Trebiščina where only one hunting hut stands. Planini Lepoč and Krotica a bit off path and didn't see them. Also viewed waterfalls of Beladovec stream. For us good eight hours up and down with rests of course. On mountain top really need to take time and enjoy views.

Tell your guides not to cut scrub. The mountain is considered pathless! Let them cut scrub on Lubnik!

Aren't you ashamed, axe into the mountains. And on "pathless" summit jezen Hope TNP supervisors read this and report follows for nature intervention within TNP!

True.. and comment that guides didn't clean everything, now lady a bit scratched.. stick to marked paths, that's solution for such..

In Triglav National Park, many such "pathless" areas are processed like this. In the vast majority, these are old shepherd and hunting paths that are "modernized" years and years after the legal protection of the mentioned area. In the vast majority, it is also known who does it..
The "problem" for opponents of preserving such paths is that they existed long before the introduction of the law, which nowhere explicitly requires that the mentioned paths be left to time or overgrowth...

On my map, the path to this peak is nicely drawn, so it is not pathless. And why not preserve the old paths? The guides just cleaned it to make it easier to pass. I don't know why such a fuss now. This path is surely older than the park regulation. Everyone who has ever walked pathless terrain has already broken off or removed some branch or stone.
Regarding the behavior of TNP supervisors, remember the troubles the mayor of Kranjska Gora had recently when he wanted to clean the path in Pišnica and ended up in court.

"Anyone who has ever walked off-trail has already snapped off or removed some branch or stone."

If it's a dry branch lying on the path, then yes!
Trimming must be legal. No one can do whatever on someone else's yard. We must realize that it's not given to everyone and it's a great blessing to roam anywhere in our beautiful Slovenia.

On Sunday I was at Zadnjiški Ozebnik, and actually I didn't see any scorched bushes anywhere, except damaged branches removed due to snow. So I think all you who are polemicizing should first go check the path and then write criticisms. And of course, when in Triglav National Park, walk only on marked paths so you don't cause damage off-path.

This concerns a problem that's a bit broader than the path to Ozebnik.. nasmeh

I think it's right to preserve and maintain these little paths even if unmarked. Because as long as they exist, people will walk on them. Once grass and bushes overgrow them, people will trample everywhere.
I was recently on Vajnež. From the saddle on, there's practically no path (at least I didn't find it) and I zigzagged a bit here and there to the top. Like probably everyone else. And instead of a half-meter wide strip, there's a trampled area tens of meters wide.
So what's better for nature? nicely groomed path or off-trail trampling?
Whoever enjoys wriggling through bushes can still do it half a meter left or right of the pathnasmeh

I always carry a small saw in my pack. Branches protruding onto the path need cutting, I do similar on off-trails, only where it's a few branches, other passages deer cut anyway.

If we let nature do its own thing, in 20 years everything overgrows, just look at old pictures. Where big pastures were, now only grassy patches around mountain pastures. Cleaning on the go is unnoticeable, waiting until overgrown makes any big cleanup controversial.

Sure, because of various eco-smart alecks (who gladly use made passages too) these things gotta be done quietly without fanfare and forum posts.

Just to clarify, I mean smart dosed branch trimming - skip comparing to motorcycle stunts like someone did years ago at the Lovren Lakes and massacred a sensitive natural area.

Not because of environmentalists. Markacists are tasked with that. Abroad you could get fined for it regardless if it's national park or not. Especially on off-trails!

Last year it was hard to force through that overgrown bushy part. The path is marked from Dol saddle. Just the summit is less visited. Views surpass many peaks though.

Korl, handsaw or chainsaw, that's the core of the open topic which belongs elsewhere not under nice Branet's tour. Sadly he opened it unwittingly himself.
As Marjan mentioned, the issue is much broader and sadly those allowing anyone to cut their forest or hedge don't get it.

The marked paths are increasingly overgrown because there are too few path maintainers to do the work. The markings have also faded, almost invisible. Why do we have to fit everything into some regulations here, when everything could be done with a bit of goodwill. Every PD would organize cleaning and renewing paths in its area, those with the most paths would ask neighboring clubs for help. We're known for solidarity, why not here, step a bit out of the molds that all kinds of bureaucrats have stuffed us into.

Yesterday needed to go somewhere where admiring yellow larches was guaranteed. And since memories of the first visit seven years ago were somewhat faded, ascent to Zadnjiški Ozebnik was the right idea.
To saddle Čez dol in shade, a bit above it autumn sun embraced us for the first time. Embraced the larches too, which glowed in autumn shades.
Path winds easily among them, hardly feel the steepness, eyes too busy admiring the sights.
When climbing to the top, you really stand amazed, views exceed even demanding expectations.
