After failed Stol due to bad conditions, I decide for Viševnik, at Rudno polje full of cars. Up without gear, there was a track, gaiters almost unnecessary, because today trodden tomorrow different, smooth path. At Viševnik clear, windless and nice views, only Debela peč skied by tourers elsewhere all untouched, for all this 4th degree.

Another short video from the top of Viševnik on 1.1, on top longer, just something to sit on I must take next time. Down the path was a bit problematic, when trodden it slips, some had trouble, so don't forget crampons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLMX4hut_00

Well, I'll add some pics from Friday 3.1 towards evening. Compared to the weather forecast, wonderful except strong wind on top.

Today hiked and skied Viševnik, Mali Draški vrh and Veliki Selišnik. Snow mostly transformed and crusts a bit on top during the day.
On Viševnik quite some visits, on MDV and Selišnik no tracks yet. Nice day. Lp velik nasmeh

This afternoon on skis to Viševnik. As mentioned, the ski slope up top icy, further soaked snow deep with slight crust. To Pleše, where the tracks of hikers from previous days end. Further nice ski run.
Skiing up top still OK, from Pleše to ski slope disaster with deep sinking, on ski slope icy again.
Skiing conditions in the middle will worsen when deep ski runs freeze. Lp

I'm wondering if in conditions like avalanche danger level 4, it's safe enough to hike to Viševnik? Asking purely for info - have there ever been any avalanches in this area, or is the terrain here prone to avalanches?

Viševnik, one of those peaks that offers beautiful views and fun fitness building, especially now velik nasmeh

Finally a few hours of clear weather.
Hills above Pokljuka are completely transformed under a few meters of snow. Already down there is more than two meters of snow, higher up much more and Viševnik is a couple of meters higher. The ski track was already made and with skis it was nice to go to the top. Snow is quite compact and especially towards the top it doesn't sink too much. For safety it's wise to follow the summer trail direction. Below the summit a large crack is visible on the south side towards Konjščica, where during thaw a large avalanche can slide. Also cracks are visible on the south side of MDV towards Jezerc.
Skiing down to the valley was today pure pleasure. velik nasmeh
