Hats off to you, really. Everyone just sees those 20 eu, which is really expensive, but that someone leaves car at Senožeta parking for 5 eu whole day and goes free with van to Blato, no way. Many who go to Bohinj would love to drive with one tire of car into the lake, that's how it is.

Yes, Bohinj folks are incredible with "marketing" the forest road with highest fee.
And with big steps catching up famous mountain roads in neighbors, like Nockalmstrasse, Grossglockner, Timmelsjoch, Auronzo..., only after those we drive at least 1000m higher. About road conditions and extra offers better not.

blazek33... we'd gladly park where you suggest, but van starts up a bit late if you want "ornk" tour. If I already drive there I make good use, beauties here unlimited. After tour still loooong wait in crowd for transport down and long drive home.

I haven't visited those ends. I was saving them for retirement time when I'd slow everything down. What now? Any discount for pensioners? If not, I won't mind giving those 20 euros sometime for a nice trip. Huts don't see me anyway and that's the only cost in their areas.

Yes, agree, with those three euros per hour at the start of that road they have long surpassed mentioned roads in Italy and Austria.

Sometimes I wonder why no one is found who would be ready to destroy such barriers or parking meters with something or blow them up. For all other mischief candidates are found right away. Well, I don't mean completely seriously, but I've thought like that.

If it's useful to anyone, I just noticed that on their website they also mention: "Parking card: Friends of Bohinj" (https://promet.bohinj.si/parkiranje/placevanje-parkirne-kartice/)
This option is also quite expensive... you pay 150eur per year and then you have all parkings and the road to Blato for free. However, if you go to Bohinj really often (especially to Blato), it might slowly become worthwhile.
Is this card something new or was it already there in previous years?

mavi12, if the Bohinj folks read this, this swimming thing will be on the next municipal council meeting
otherwise I'd gladly pay 150 eur- if the card applied to all parking lots and accesses in our Alps (Julian Alps, Karavanke, KSA)- but given the proverbial Slovenian mess we'll sooner lie behind the cypresses. By the way.. in the USA you pay for an annual pass for 400+ national parks 80 usd which covers the whole car..and even two owners can have it..(so basically 40 usd per car) in the parks themselves they don't charge parking even at the most famous spots, only visitor limits for the most vulnerable or burdened areas- In short- they regulate visitor flow with certain limits and not by jacking up entrance fees, parking and who knows what else under the pretext of protection. That's all about those ugly capitalist s...s

So, non-friends of Bohinj, for that price in Austrian Styria and Carinthia we get not only tolls on some mountain roads, but also some:
- cable car rides
- river boat trips
- museum visits
- mine and cave tours
- breweries, distilleries..
- swimming pools
- etc.
And when some of that is included in the Bohinj card, the price will be accessible to everyone...

For comparison, Matterhorn Terminal Täsch parking: 1 day = 16 CHF or 16.47 €
If you park longer than a week, the daily price is 15 CHF or 15.44 €
The garage is of course covered, hail doesn't destroy your car, in summer the car is cool and in winter nicely warm, upon arrival and before departure you can for those prices also pee, poop and wash up warmly with warm water. And you absolutely can't drive into the garage if it's full.

At the other end, Saas Fee, also a garage with all amenities: 1 day = 14 CHF or 14.41 €

With those barriers, pink signs for parking payment THEY have driven away tourists and locals, I go several times in the afternoon to Gorenjska on the old road and notice that some inns are 3/4 empty and right there near where you have to pay parking. Looks like the icing on the cake are the wardens who stick tickets on car windows. Well, they ruined tourism but you can't write or talk about it more widely . People rather go where there are no tolls, parking fees and inns are full too.

You're just complaining - in the end we all drive up anyway. Parking at Blato is completely full in summer and it happens that the ramp doesn't even open if you're late.
Bohinj folks are rip-offs, but they're not fools to charge less if there are enough willing to pay.
They could really go a bit towards local hikers and have say off-season - half tariff. But that can't be helped, as we know: "everyone for themselves, Bohinec with the drill"

You guys are really interesting with this whining. And as korl wrote, you still fill up the parking space as if you couldn't go anywhere else.
Even in Maribor they've raised the most visited parking to 1.7 euros per hour. And what can you see for that money compared to Blato?
They'll raise prices as long as there's traffic. Definitely.
Otherwise they're working with these electric cars so that soon you won't be able to go far from home anymore.
Good thing mushrooms are nearby.
