I assume the road is "normally" passable? Maybe you know from experience when you need to be at Planina Blato by car to still get a parking spot - we're going with kids Sunday morning (to Pršivec). Since one kid is mostly carried, I'd also ask for possible other (alternative) starting point with max 800m elevation gain to goal. Thanks

If you're worried about crowds at Planina Blato, I suggest using public transport to get there.

The road is asphalted and in good condition (occasionally some needed sand, but no problem). I was there last week on a weekday, so less crowded than weekend, but when I arrived at 4:30, mostly everything was still empty. So I could park right at the top, before the barrier, where the car is a bit out of traffic and no need to park sideways on the road. From last year's experience, I'd say on weekends it starts filling up after 6, most after 8. Otherwise, to get an idea of parking occupancy, this page is good: https://promet.bohinj.si/parkiranje/ On the map below, click "P20 - Cesta (road), Stara Fužina - Voje - Vogar - Blato," it shows parking occupancy - so you can check tomorrow and Sunday will probably be similar. Of course, if no early starts when bus doesn't run yet, as Kafetarca wrote, easier and cheaper to park at P+R and go by bus.

Closest starting point for Pršivec is end of road to Vogar (not Planina Blato, continues past Blato section a bit). LINK. Possible loop via Planina Viševnik. Trail start harder to see, begins left of road some tens of meters before parking lot. Road not for low cars, gravel, last km problematic with concrete sections every few m (drainage), low car can bottom out. If not, leave car by road.

The only bummer is that the road was closed last weekend, except for landowners. I came from Dolenjska to hop to Bregarjevo shelter, but a sign 'road closed', no snow anywhere – road closed till May, WTF. Didn't feel like walking asphalt, no time via Vogar up, so ended up nice hike to Vogar anyway.

Martin Dercar, unfortunately or "painfully" as you put it, it's also that you can't write three, four understandable sentences about your unpleasant experience.

I think there was some bug, because I see punctuation.

Hello, this is a total rip-off to the bone. Entry to Planina Blato is almost half the annual Swiss vignette 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm more surprised that some of you pay those high parking fees. You turn around and go somewhere else. I read somewhere that the Bohinj folks don't like tourism.

That's why more and more Slovenes are heading to the neighboring Italian and Austrian hills... where they are often less greedy than at home. And it's not just Bohinj that's the problem... parking fees already in every other Gorenjska village, night parking in Lj... Good thing we live in one of the most sparsely populated countries in the EU... imagine what parking fees would be like here if we were a more densely populated country...

Comparing Passo Gardena with Planina Blato is, to put it mildly, ridiculous

"municipalities have prepared compensations, such as bus services every 15-20min" Ehm...how about that at Blato and Vratih?
