Congrats, Janez! Yes, several of us still tempted by this ridge for extremists, as Prle said. He also said: "The path is right, God just spiced it up a bit..." Shots of the spring under the cave are something special! And those flowers on the meadow at Okrešelj - like they had a meeting! Regards

Thanks for congrats guys! @Navihan: Yes, probably that gully. I've attached a pic of that gully with my ascent. Best regards and safe steps, especially on this path that God really spiced up, from under beautiful Golte, Janez

On Saturday in nice weather on Cold Mountain from Logarska valley. Really respectable, but not too hard for experienced mountaineer. Quite a few visits to the peak, even those with shaking knees and fear in eyes, like we met on descent Path from Okrešelj was besieged, processions of hikers towards Savinjsko sedlo. Anyway - another nicely spent day in the mountains' embrace Regards,

Yesterday was again a day for the soul. And where to start such a day if not in Matkov kot. I planned to explore the path to the ridge before Savinjek and wander a bit around Matkovo okno. But it turned out differently. For some time I had suspected there was another path to the ridge, besides the abandoned one from the hunting hut to the saddle before Veliki vrh. From the hunting hut I continued first down the valley to the first distinct gully, where I expected a passage over the bushy ridge to the left of the gully. The start was not promising (steep grass with rocks), but higher up I soon tracked a faint path that led me to the ridge near Savinjek. At the exit to the ridge there were even two cairns, which I hadn't noticed last time when crossing this ridge with my brother. I continued to Savinjek and toward Matkovo okno. Now I found direct access to the window (Janez, thanks), so I didn't have to go through the hairy steep gully again or even descend to the saddle at Turni. Since I still had enough time and the weather was ideal, I also planned to explore the ridge toward Hud prasek, which Janez had climbed last time. With no gear except a helmet, I intended only reconnaissance until it was safe to return. But soon I was in front of the difficult third tower that Janez had climbed straight up the crumbly chute. That chute didn't appeal to me, so I remembered Prle's description mentioning a bypass on the left. I went around the corner and noticed piled scree and oblique slabs and a ramp to the left upward over the slabs to a larch. Once at the larch, the difficulties were practically over, only a steep descent to the Hud prasek notch still awaited me, where the mini larch helped again. In the chute left of Hud prasek I was delighted by gentians everywhere. I continued to Cold Mountain and descended back to Matkov kot. Nice tour, and as Prle wrote, true adventurous untouched ridge.

Great, congrats for every step taken! This ridge from Matkov kot to the ridge towards Savinjek I remember well when returning from Cold Mountain via Okrešelj once. Lower part steep as hell. Further exactly as you wrote, adventurous and unforgettable. Need to repeat it fully along the ridge sometime. Regards and safe steps from under beautiful Golte, Janez

Congratulations to both of you, and you are probably among the rare ones who have climbed this ridge. When the question appeared: is it possible from M. window to Latvice? I suspected that sooner or later someone would prove that the ridge is passable. Judging by pictures and descriptions the thing is not easy and requires a really experienced mountaineer. Have we now, in this corner, climbed all these mysterious "paths"? But I think something will still be found... nice greeting to all from hospital bed

Thanks for the congratulations! I had already viewed the ridge from the jump above Hudim praskom, but it seemed too overgrown to me. Actually the middle part between M. window and H. praskom is the least overgrown. Until recently I didn't know that Prle described it in his book. But despite the overgrowth it is interesting and offers quite some climbing and of course exposed spots too.
