Nice tour, ljubitelj gora. Plan to go up this week...is winter gear still needed for ascent to Mrzla gora from Okrešelj? Thanks for info.

Don Sergio.. you don't need winter gear. In KSA there's almost no trace of snow left.. hehe.. Take some fluids though, especially if you're going in these hot days.

I also did the ascent to Mrzla gora on Saturday. I set out on the trail Friday and overnighted at Okrešelj, where a group joined me Saturday with whom we summited together. I won't write about conditions and difficulty, you can read and see everything on M-foto.si

How ugly those stamp poles make the summit look. A bit of aesthetics wouldn't hurt the summit (like without them).

Yesterday to Krnička from Belska Kočna and then along north ridge to Mrzla gora. No joke, ridge in lower part extremely dangerous for slipping (heavily scree-covered)! Navihan, hats off if you descended there without rope. To start via shortcut through scree gully. Regards.

In early June I was on Mrzla gora and I have to say I was thrilled. Demanding, but crazy!

Congratulations, Volk, for the tour because the terrain in the initial part of the ridge viewed from Krnička is really bad, so next time I'll look for a passage further from the ridge or a traverse from the saddle on the eastern slope and then up. Regards

Today on Mrzla gora. We went up the classic from Okrešelj and down the same. The sun was pleasantly scorching.

Last Saturday my wife and I visited Zabrložnica, where she forgot her glasses. That was sufficient reason for me to go back up there on Wednesday. Initially I planned just to see the cave under Savinjek's face. I climbed to the cave via the torrent gully seen through the window. The higher I got, the steeper it became, but I couldn't quite reach the cave. Then I went down a bit lower, traversed into the right branch of the gully and started climbing again. After a short look at the terrain above me, I decided to ascend the ridge to the right of the cave. The ridge is very sharp, exposed on both sides and very crumbly, so it took a lot of energy from me. Above the cave I reached the hunting trail, which I followed to Zabrložnica. Does anyone know where that trail leads? As expected, I found the glasses before the hut. After a short break I continued upward on the path to Okrešelj. On the other side of the saddle between Matkovo okno and Turni I observed a herd of seven chamois. From the saddle I turned upward toward Matkovo okno, my next goal. At the window I was in a dilemma: descend to Okrešelj or continue up the ridge toward Mrzla gora. The ridge was a complete unknown to me, so I tackled it on the principle of returning safely as long as possible. The first half of the ridge caused no major problems, although I progressed slowly. But looking at the second half it seemed impossible to continue. Impassable drop on the right to the Matko side, the start directly upward also almost vertical, only on the left a solution offered via the steep crumbly gully to the summit. The ascent through the gully itself seemed feasible to me, although descent would be anything but easy. The upper part of the gully stands almost completely vertical and due to the looseness exhausted me thoroughly. The continuation was then easier, if one can call it that. When I reached the notch of the gully from Hud prasek, the tension subsided and joy replaced it, giving me new strength to continue to the summit. On the descent to Okrešelj I enjoyed the afternoon sun and solitude. At the source of the Savinja I filled my bladder, which remained empty a little below Mrzla gora, and barely quenched my thirst until the waterfall. The ridge is very demanding and requires considerable experience in off-trail hiking and climbing. Best regards and safe steps from under beautiful Golte, Janez

First, big congratulations for the outstanding tour. See what all women's forgetfulness can lead to . Prle defined this ridge in his book Ridges of Slovenian Mountains for pathless and bushy extremists. Prle bypassed the third summit on the route with a detour to the left; I'm wondering if that's the gully you're describing. As you know, I also have a desire for this ridge, since we talked about it last year. I hope it works out for me this year. Best regards. Janez
