On Saturday I might go on this hike:

What the weather was like there I have no idea. Currently it shows that this morning there was some snowing, afternoon sun. Tomorrow cloudy around 2°C, Saturday clear -3°C, both days no precipitation, snow.
According to forecast and current conditions: will it be possible to reach the top in mid-high boots, without gaiters? Crampons and ice axe probably not needed since under Recommended equipment (winter) nothing is listed on hribi.net? I have all that anyway, the companion currently doesn't.
Is there snow on the path itself (new)? Will it be icy on the path on Saturday?

NO WORRIES GO ON THE PATH. SNOW IS HERE AND THERE JUST FOR SHOW. WE'RE GOING SUNDAY. WALK WELL, IF FOG THEN BETTER TURN BACK. EVEN WE WHO KNOW MENINA WELL TURN BACK IN FOG HOME OR TO ČEMŠENIŠKO PLANINA. LET US KNOW HOW IT WAS. BEST JOŽE

thanks for info. I was up there Saturday. that snow is just for show you were wrong. maybe we have different ideas what sample is. well, no big problems, but still needed care here and there. part of path was quite icy. operation successful.

Today from Lipa pass to Limovška planina. Snow about 30 to 40 cm powder. On the pasture strong wind and high drifts formed.

PD Gornji Grad organizes night hike to Menina on Saturday, 9. 2. 2013, at 17.00 .
Meeting point: Bus station Gornji Grad
Mandatory equipment:
• headlamp,
• suitable winter-mountaineering footwear and clothing (gaiters, hat, gloves, slippers for hut … )
For securing beds pre-registration needed by Thursday 7.2. evening tel.: 041 464 035 (Andraž Krznar)
Otherwise Dom on Menina open every weekend regardless of weather. Duty by PD Gornji Grad members.
Open also during winter holidays.
Warm stove and tea guaranteed, something to eat (if not runs out  ) too.

Yesterday it dumped about 25 cm in Gornji Grad, up there at least 30 new.

Menina pasture on Saturday.
From Gornji Grad track over Borovnica (as we noticed) and from Semprimožnik where we went. At start skis on road, then dragged skis on forest roads and clearings, in upper part joined the track. At hut refreshed at always friendly caretakers. Down followed ski track over meadows into gully then through forest to start. Wonderful powder ski down. Towards top 50 to 100 cm snow.

Gornji Grad-Semprimožnik-Vivodnik and ski back.
Yesterday on Menina pasture beautiful weather formed and revealed a wonderful winter fairy tale. Past Semprimožnik after last snowfall the track has been made again, there is of course more snow than a week ago.

Hello,
like Ado I'm also interested whether the hut is open as stated on the PZS website. I've almost been stranded several times if I hadn't called the individual PD, because PZS data isn't accurate.
Some caretakers wondered where PZS gets the data from.
Has anyone gone from Golica to Menina after the last snowfall?

As far as I noticed and they also said, no one has come from Golica yet (that was the situation a week ago, 17.02). Now it's even more snowy.

The hut will be open over the weekend. 100% from 11am on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe already Friday because of winter holidays.

Today on winter Menina Pasture...Started from Golica village..at the start short dry section,then snow starts which steadily gains with height....Light snowfall accompanied us the whole way,in between fog appeared,towards the top also wind...So it was a real winter hike

I'm interested how the snow cover is from Gornji grad to Menina? What about further to Vivodnik? Tomorrow I plan to go up.

Katty why fear the snow
take your darling's hand
and head to beautiful Menina
where snow they measure only in length.
Crocus surely still blooms up there
blooming saffron I don't worry.
Safe both on the way to the pasture
with happy impressions return to valley.
