Today it showed again that one can't always trust weather forecasts, which predicted low cloud to 1400m. Menina-Vivodnik peak, which is 1508m asl, had sun just a glimpse, even through mists. Paths of course slippery from dew, here and there snow patch and lots of broken trees.

The team of this weekend's duty staff at the Menina hut thanks the crowd of visitors who came to sunbathe with us. You ate the jota beyond all expectations. Looks like it was good . Though we cooked at least 80 liters, you "licked the pot". The Menina hut is open all winter, every weekend, Saturday and Sunday, regardless of temperatures and weather. Welcome to the sun, fresh air and views.

Yeah, with this food during duty shifts it's just like that, usually some portion always remains, rarely though it runs out too :/ This time we expected lots of hikers, so we cooked two huge pots of jota, the largest we had. We were sure some would remain. For reserve we had "Kranjska" too but all went. Yesterday really many of you chose to visit Menina, so we had to disappoint the last 3 or 4 hungry ones. When jota was running out towards the end, we decided not to dilute it and increase quantity but stick to quality. Better a bit of excellent jota runs out than eaters not satisfied.

All praise to the team in the hut on Menina Pasture for the invitation and thanks for visiting their hut. Also regarding food they think very positively and don't just look at profit. Because of such people we head to certain pastures again and again and recommend them to others too. Definitely they can be an example to many providers!

The guys are really an example, even if jota runs out they are pure friendliness.

For today we chose Menina Pasture from Golica. We circled Vivodnik on the loop path, went a bit around the Domžale radio club hut, from where for me the nicest view from Menina to KSA. As known snow starts around 1200 m, pastures on Menina partly blown clean, partly need to make track, on marked paths track already well visible.

Morning a bit of recreation before work, head to Menina or rather Šavnice. Start from Slapi where no snow at all, except few patches, continue to Biba planina, where snow really starts only around 1200m. Go to top of Šavnice, there about 20 cm.

Today real winter idyll on Menina - just right new snow fell yesterday so not too hard for first from Golica to break trail. Looked super in the morning with lots of snow on spruces, on return quite some melted as temps really spring-like. Views on KSA more than excellent, jota and company in hut too, just some roe deer should show up and perfect On some parts of the path be careful, as under new snow ice layer or hidden branch from logging and can "fly" a bit.

The hut on Menina planina is open every weekend in winter, Saturday from 11 to Sunday until 3pm. Except if snowfalls are extreme.

I was on Menina planina yesterday. There's quite some snow, so caution is needed on ascent and descent.

Hi, yesterday we were on Menina planina, we started from Gornji Grad, from where it's 3 hours to the top. We went via Borovnica and then at the next junction to the top via Ovčji stan, down via Jespo. Little snow up to that junction, then more. We chose a good loop tour, uphill from junction (via Ovčji stan) more icy path, downhill (via Jespo) deeper snow (about half meter), so descent was quick. Weather cloudy, but sun came out sometimes. Very windy though. When we got to the top, there was an event - Menina slalom, so the Dom na Menini planini was open. Pictures from the hike on the website of Planinsko društvo Matica Murska Sobota: http://www.mojalbum.com/pdmaticams/20120311-menina-planina/foto/19507951
