Simply call up there and ask them if it's trodden:

How low does the snow start, is it still quite bare at the beginning?

Snow from the start. From Savica to Komna it's well trodden, snow is hard and holds even off the trail. Today nothing icy yet. From Komna towards the hut under Bogatin the track is worse, visible further towards Bogatinsko sedlo. Off trail sinking cca 30 cm, but hard base below too. Ski tourers haven't hit Komna yet obviously, one or two skiers pulled a track towards the saddle.

I'm interested in the avalanche risk on the way to Komna based on your experiences. I admit I hadn't thought about it before. But last year friends had an avalanche experience exactly on this path, which luckily ended well. That's why I'm scared now. We usually go up once every winter. Thanks for answers.

The path to Komna is not dangerous, from Komna past the hut under Bogatin towards Bogatinska vrata below Gracija peak there are full-on avalanches and it is dangerous, so to Komna yes, further advise against.

@enaPikaPoka, Jani Bele also writes about the avalanche under Dom on Komna in the book Nevarno proti vrhovom. It's the part of the path a bit lower than that cave by the path.
@enaPikaPoka, can you write more about when the avalanche surprised your friends? Right after snowfall or how else?

Hey, I don't remember exactly anymore. But I think it was not directly after snowfall.
Many thanks for all answers.

Probably you've all been to Komna these days already, as the path is widely trodden, ski toured and bike ridden, but still a few words and pics. In the lower third it's quite icy in the morning, higher up hard, later on sunny spots also crusty. Weather gorgeous, views excellent, few visitors.

Today first from Savica after this rain/snow. Sank to knees (30 cm at hut). Snowfall traces visible above 800 m, consolidated snow cover starts at cca 1100 m (below Pekel) and increases quickly with altitude.
Unfortunately missed morning sun, but no matter, still nice day nasmeh

Today we decided for Komna. Path without peculiarities, snow starts at 45th serpentine. Just enough to feel like wintervelik nasmeh (at the hut cca 20-25cm). At and in the hut lots of mountain lovers, so hut staff had to roll up sleeves properly. They succeeded, service quick, food very goodvelik nasmeh.
Safe steps to all onwards.

Hello,
Interested in what the path to Komna from Savica is like. What equipment is recommended in current conditions.

What is this? Crampons are only those that most know. Those you mention are for some "spileraj" in the living room. If those microspikes are needed as you say, better stay home.

Microspikes I understand as "chains". That's what youth calls them. On the path to Komna you'll need them only from the serpentines onwards. LP

Honestly, microspikes are actually pretty cool for the path to Komna. You can say they are not necessary, but they help.

Redbull, sorry "spileraj microspikes for living room". With all your knowledge, rich alpinistic experiences and years of crampons use, you kicked a bit into the fog. Your assessment of the usefulness of these handy microspikes is strongly undervaluing and mocking. velik nasmeh nasmeh
