Exactly, for certain paths they are very handy, only problem is many don't know where small microspikes use ends and real crampons are needed.

Interesting that redbull lectures on gear. At least twice exactly him were rescued by GRS-guys, who was ramming head through wall, when no more goes call known number. Sometimes others' opinion counts, especially for path to Komna.

It would be better not to discuss equipment so much. Whoever asks what ice axe to buy or use, or if such or other crampons are more suitable and the like, should first go to the mountains with someone who knows it already. This knowledge simply cannot be safely passed on via forums.

I think what nonsense and idiocies. Asking for Komna not for Jalovec. But the person's ego and superiority complex has already completely clouded the mind. Because kings like him really don't use micro-crampons, because that's humiliating for "real mountaineers".

WHAT IS THIS AGAIN SOME CRAPPY GEAR, MICROSPikes, CHAINS, EITHER CRAM PONS OR NOTHING, ALL MOUNTAIN IGNORAMUSES I ASK TO FIRST GET USED TO MOUNTAIN EQUIPMENT, THEN START PREPARING FOR SOME HILL, REALIZE THE MOUNTAIN IS NOT CRAZY. LEAVE CRAPPY THINGS AT HOME AND GOOD LUCK

I agree, @rekar, finally someone dared to say it, just as it should be!!! Helmet, two climbing ice axes, self-belay kit, twelve-point crampons and a bunch of friends and five ice screws on the belt then off to Šmarna gora! For Komna also bivouac sack and stove. And no mistake: proper brands!

>Some are just know-it-alls ... >Correctly these small crampons are called: Veriga Lesce crampons. But even if they're made by Yaktrax for example?

@exwannabe, don't smart-mouth too much, because of such people mountain rescuers have unnecessary work, please no offense, I wrote it as it is and nothing else, go to some lecture so they teach you mountain walking. Listen to old hands and don't pull stuff out of thin air.

Two things. First, about microcrampons and mountain rescuers. Not that they have so much more work because of them, they use them themselves. One of them said they are very useful for carrying stretchers on icy paths, where 12-pointers are overkill, without them too dangerous. Yes, very useful if you know where. And second, to give it to you straight. Today on descent from Planina Pri Jezeru to Blato I put on crampons twice, 12-pointers. Didn't have others. Whoever claims microcrampons on that icy slope wouldn't help is lying to himself.

True. Lightweight, handy. Put on in a second. For interventions to Blejska Koča and Roblek etc... - where it's trodden. But always in the backpack, next to 12 teeth, ice axe and avalanche triplet.

About eight years ago I was ready to fight if someone mentioned "microcrampons" and how useful they can be. Crampons and full stop, I was unshakable. A few years later no more fighting mood, no longer unshakable, happily listened where microcrampons eased someone's path. Also made the tour safer and more pleasant. And a few more years later I bought them myself and now advocate them just as fervently as I was ready to fight over them years ago. Experience and a bit of healthy peasant sense is of course needed to know where what, and when what.

Does anyone have a fresh photo of microcrampons on Komna? Or can you go without already?

I was there on Friday. From somewhere after the 46th bend icy. With chains it goes tip top.
