2.5 m snow, trampled. To the hut no problem just with boots, also further to hut under Bogatin, for more need snowshoes or touring skis.

On Sunday we would go to Komna. Is there a lot of new snow? Could we go without snowshoes? Thanks

Of course, with skis or without, provided you have good condition; if a dog can reach Jalovčev tarn, then there's no problem reaching Komna either

BrankaM Today, on Saturday evening, call them and ask how the path is. Were they also up on foot or only skis and snowshoes. First-hand info is something else than guessing from the couch https://www.pzs.si/koce.php?pid=37

Today we were on Komna. There were quite a few visitors who didn't have a good view because visibility was very bad. We were without skis or snowshoes but still made it up in 2h20min so no need to worry for tomorrow. Gaiters are obligatory of course. First part in switchbacks is easier than higher up so save a little energy. Atmosphere in hut is really homely so I warmly recommend the visit.

BrankaM, Klemen has already said everything, so tomorrow just slowly up, snow is mushy and step is tiring. We today really suffered whole 3 hours. Snowshoes you don't need. Some fun on way back treat yourself to and choose some ready toboggan for faster return. Enjoy.

In beautiful nature also photos are great. Dining room in Dom na Komni this time more like laundry drying room. When will someone think of dedicated gear drying rooms like in foreign huts.

True! This bothers me a lot and it's everywhere like that! Food is also eaten in the same room, would you put laundry in a bag or how do you think or suggest others?

Drying room for clothes, space for shoes, gear and backpack. In dining room only guests; that's how it is in many huts outside Slovenia. In Dom na Komni drying room and space for gear exist.

I agree. I think it's long-standing old bad habit. Sweaty smelly laundry doesn't belong on stove in dining room at all. Also don't understand how to smell dried laundry on oneself on return to valley. Changed shirts go in bag and to bottom of backpack home then directly to washing machine or balcony

"The ass must smell like ass", was the famous saying of our doctor when a dolled-up person came to him.

If a hiker has the right clothes that wick away moisture, there's no need for changing and drying wet clothes. Lp!

All that stuff hanging on the previously posted photo belongs to those "active" clothes. Oh, and I never understood that about how sweat-soaked and dried clothes smell. I don't know, if I go from the mountains on a date, I make an effort to change and shower in between, and throw the sweat-soaked t-shirt in the washing machine. If someone does it differently, that's fine too.

Active clothes? There's a big difference among them, depending on where you buy them too. Lidl, Hofer - big difference from more specialized stores. I myself got it wrong once when I bought a running jacket at Hofer. Lp!

@jprim ...some sweat more than others. For me a synthetic shirt for 500 euros doesn't help so I wouldn't arrive at Komna wet..especially on the back. No matter Hofer, Lidl or if I go to the Mammut factory..
