Today was Kanjavec's turn, because larches not yet sufficiently reddish, and weather promised excellent view. Up from planina Blato (today obviously no parking fee, so lots of people) through valley behind Kopica, down through Valley behind Debelem vrhom and over planina Krstenica. Icy snow starts already before Planina jezero, but little throughout. A bit more under and on Hribarice and under Debelem vrhom, but on sun-exposed sides soft, on shaded very hard to icy, so greater caution needed on exposed parts, but no axe needed. In valleys wind occasionally quite strong, on summit almost calm. Great day with great views. Larches not yet golden yellow.

We were also on Kanjavec yesterday, from planina Blato we went to Laz, Lazovski preval, through the valley behind Debelim vrhom to Hribarice and to the summit of Kanjavec. We returned via Vrh Hribaric, past Škednjovec to Jezerce, from there to Krstenica and planina Blato. Beautiful day, conditions already described by the previous poster.

Felix, interested in passability of eastern ridge of Vrh hribaric from saddle between it and Škednjovcem. When we climbed around there yesterday it seemed passable to me, though haven't seen description of this passage yet. Loop via Jezerca, M. prelaza and Škednjovca we finished through little valley under Debelim vrhom (pathless) to L preval, where we met first two hikers whole day; obviously we were there before you.

Mirank, from the saddle between Škednjovcem and Vrh hribaric head up the slope - at the beginning more to the right side, on the left there are quite a few pits, otherwise it is very passable. If going to Hribarice, from the top descend toward the next small peak which you bypass on the left, then continue in the direction you intend. Probably you were before us, we descended from Vrh Hribaric after the second hour.

Although in ideal conditions Kanjavec sees visits from only a few ascenders.
Morning at 7.30h start from Blato parking, up to Lazovski preval, carefully cross labyrinths of Valley behind Debelim vrhom even with crampons so as not to slip into some hole . Snow in gullies frozen and walkable, sinks only a few cm. On way to Hribarice walk through nice snowy idyllic landscape, right toward Hribarice saddle spot only one human footprints and bunch of chamois double "crampons". On saddle aim for summit since come so far, but no. Ascent nice no issues. Snow on sunny sides softens a bit at noon, good to use crampons to lower stable frozen layer because upper snow slippery. In between some dry bits no problem. Up top light wind from SE. Descend to cold Velska dolina to sunny Veleg polje then path to Voje, Pl.Grintovica (got shot of schnapps-lemon from local - thanks!), night catches me, then 1h10min over Na vrhu to Pl. Blato. Tour very nice but long. Lasts from dawn to dusk . Walked good 9h with 45min break. Route through Valley behind Debelim vrhom now visible and correct re pits. Likewise Velska dolina trodden by a few hikers. For longer tours recommend especially late afternoon thick thermals, because at end of tour in dark softshell freezing like chicken . Cheers!

Thanks all for congrats, otherwise think return would be bit shorter same way back through Valley behind Debelim vrhom. I effectively walked this loop good 9 hrs (correction). Tour really very nice, enough snow, solitary. In Konta under Debelim vrhom met only one lonely chamois that whistled at me, I back at him

I plan to do Blato - Zakopica - Kanjavec - Prehodavci - 7J - Štapce - Blato route on Saturday (if weather allows). How long for this route? I figured about 11 hrs...
Especially interested in time for ascent from Hribarice junction - Prehodavci to Kanjavec summit?
If weather ok I'll push to summit, if worse turn to Zasavska hut and down 7J valley.
Any other snowfields on route needing extra caution?

From Hribarice saddle to Kanjavec summit official 1h walk. Up in 45min mountaineer pace. Warm clothes won't hurt, today even Grintovec summit a bit whitened.

Hope someone gives newer data, I last hiked this route July 2006. Think timetable ok, from junction to summit about 1hr (memory). Then winter gear needed for safe snowfield crossing under Vršaki, as it ends in drop. Good luck.
