Südliche Augstenspitze is 3225 meter high peak and is part of the Silvretta Alps. The peak is located 0.2 km south-southwest of peak Nördliche Augstenspitze near the border with Austria. The nearest mountain hut is Jamtalhütte, located 3km northwest. A little further is bivouac Ehemalige Zollwachhütte. 1.0 km north from the summit there is glacier Futschölferner, 1.2 km west-southwest from the summit there is also glacier Vadret da Chalaus. Northwest of the summit is the valley Jamtal.
