Tosc

This path is definitely not too demanding for a dog, as it goes along a wide ledge. I've gone with both several times already and never had any problems. Also to VDV and MDV I went with them without issues. Only if the dog is scared or clumsy. Better to leave such a one in the valley anyway zavijanje z očmi

I agree it's possible even with a dog on a leash over such a path, maybe for an easier decision some pictures from this path.

@Tatana, from the saddle between VDV and MDV you can descend to Jezerca, it's not marked, but trodden, quite gravelly, but not exposed and not technically demanding.

Hmm considering the experiences maybe we really try with the dog. Anyway thanks to everyone for the answers nasmeh

From Rudno polje, where there's now(?) a 5 EUR parking fee (paid with bills or coins, the machine doesn't give change), towards Studorski preval and then circling under Tosc to the extremely lively Vodnikov dom. There I turn right and in a flash leave the hustle and bustle of the Triglav highway. Through the gate I zigzag left-right over rocky ledges and rugged terrain, until 300 meters higher I find myself on the soft grasses atop Tosc. I descend to the south side a bit on my own and return to the start via planina Konjščica.

September days in the mountains are the most beautiful thing. nasmeh

Garmont, know what's really super? That after September comes October with golden larches and we can say again it's one of the best. Then the first snow falls and we have a new top, top... and so in its uniqueness every single one is the best. nasmeh

Isn't the first parking still free? And how about the road to the barracks these days... open or closed?

Slowly we won't be able to park for free anywhere anymore. 5 EUR a day doesn't seem excessive to me. But I don't know how the parking payment works if you drive further on gravel to the parking where the actual path to Vodnikov dom starts. Three weeks ago every spot was parked from Rudno polje to that parking lot.

Yes, I'd really be sorry if they closed this road. Not because of paying - 5 euros per day is a perfectly reasonable price and I'd gladly pay it even on gravel - but because the path from the parking lot under Konjščica is much, much nicer. There it's a nice direct ascent, while from the barracks we have to deal with really tedious little hills and valleys.

I meant the main...asphalt road, because they're resurfacing it or something.

Michael66, the main road to the barracks is closed weekdays, open weekends and was normally drivable on Saturday. Best to google it and find out exactly, because I don't know if there won't be some complete closure in between for a day.

Lately I don't know where I'm going, but I get somewhere. I start at the end of the road in shorts and short shirt, got to the top like that. I get quite warm when walking. Met two more below the summit, then 3/4 hour observed from the top the mountain world, sunset. Conditions, some snow patches, but okay without winter gear.

Has anyone gone up the eastern gully to Tosc these days? Interested in conditions.

Today to Tosc via the eastern gully. The gully well filled with snow and good for walking, other parts on soft snow, so we used snowshoes for easier walking, without them it sank nicely.

Late afternoon from Rudno polje to Tosc. Used ice axe for snow fields. Could have gone lower and bypassed them, but would have to do it a couple times.

Hi,
Since snow melting nicely last days, asking if anyone has update from last 2-3 days on path to Tosc (from Rudno polje). Still snow on path or bare? Over Studorski preval (from @ljubitelj_gora pics looks snowy), could manage on snow, mainly interested in Tosc slope where more afraid of snow nasmeh.
Thanks!

@miri, sorry, my Slovenian really is a bit rusty due to living abroad and using English.

But, I also remember from elementary school the reciprocal possessive pronoun "svoj", so since we value correct Slovenian, it should be "svojo slovenščino" not "tvojo slovenščino" big grin
