Poljanec, I forgot to tell you, before you reach Westrova you have to park approx 500 to 1000 m away from the starting point, walk to the starting point on asphalt and pay parking... nice 50€/h... that's where they killed three young girls... since it's close to Lj one might even suspect that the mayor has some share in it...

pikec 1 where can you get up there with a bike so you don't have to push it most of the way on foot. And so there aren't, I don't know, how many people. If the latter is even possible?

KOZOROG I AGREE THAT THE MAYOR WILL ALSO PUT HIS POT ON. I ALWAYS PARK IN TACNA. MY ROUTE GOES LIKE THIS-MAZIJEVA OVER GRMADA ON PARTIZANSKA TO SMARNA GORA. TEA AND A LITTLE CHAT. THEN OVER PESKE TO WESTROVA AND VIA MAZIJEVA BACK TO PARKING. LP TO ALL LOVERS OF SMARNA GORA.

GregorC - the most rideable is the road from Zavrha. You can also try the pilgrims' path that starts from Tacna at the church. But people go to Smarna even if they swear like hell going down, so forget about being alone :-) Maybe the fewest people are on weekdays in the morning, when retirees have already descended, failed students haven't woken up yet, employed people haven't come from work yet. Or in the middle of the night :-)

Park at the police academy, otherwise it's a few more steps to the starting point for the western routes, but the parking lot in the dark shade of chestnuts is always empty.

Well, I also conquered Šmarna, when I conquered a 4000er I said to myself this one too has to be done. Need to repeat it because there was terrible fog..

Despite yesterday's wandering around Vajnž, the beautiful Sunday lures us outside. We just choose the goal - let it be Smarna Gora via the climbing Pogačnik path today. Despite everything, I wanted to check the path on this portal, which luckily wasn't working in the morning, because if I knew what awaited me, I would probably stay home . A few essentials in the backpack and we're on the way to Vikrče from where we'll start. By prior agreement with the owner, we park at a small forest parking lot. I thought I had survived my first encounter with pegs and loops last week on Triglav, but I find out that the first real baptism awaits me today . I openly admit that my heart really stopped for a moment, but with excellent support and encouragement, I managed to climb to the top of this path today. Beautiful views that you can enjoy along the way despite everything reward your effort. And finally meeting Mr. Viki Grošelj really left its mark. The path to Grmada and to the top of Smarna Gora was then a piece of cake . We went back via Westrova, which posed no problems. It was a wonderful day and many new experiences for which I am truly grateful .

Since I was busy yesterday afternoon, I couldn't afford a longer trip so I head to Smarna Gora in the morning. I go up via my standard over Grmada: Westrova path, junction to Freedom Path, then to Youth Path (by the way, this one goes around and around over the peaks around Ljubljana and I have to tackle it sometime) and to the top of Grmada. In short: the path along its entire western ridge. Despite it saying "difficult uninsured" at the start, it's suitable for any hiker with at least some experience. On the way I meet runners running DOWN Westrova. Good ones! And almost all kids. When I reach Grmada, they come up again. Yeah, that's fitness because the path is especially steep in the lower part and somewhat dangerous for running downhill I'd say. From Grmada I descend to the Saddle then past the chapel of St. Sobota to the top. At the top I treat myself to tea. The owner of some big dog (I think a German Dogge) explains to someone: "With such dogs it's like with a wife, if you neglect her she starts barking and biting!" Unfortunately church and gallery were closed (off season) so I go down, ringing the bell for luck on the way. Instead of my standard descent Kovačeva, this time I head straight to Freedom Path. Markings to the ridge (junction with Westrova) are a bit poor and the path was barely visible due to leaves. From there on the path gets a bit harder and slippery when wet, I also encounter two pegs, so I think I've strayed to Turnc. Well, after another 15 min walk I join Mažijeva trail and at the fork turn towards Vikrče and past the starting point of the path over Turnc back to the car.

The bora wind nicely aired the air and a short hop to Smarna Gora was quite welcome. For a change I head directly over Kuhinja to the top of Smarna Gora. The hut was closed, but unimportant for a 25min ascent, but the view was nicer and the sun barely peeked through the blanket of clouds. I descend to the saddle and chapel, then left off-path towards Sm.Grmada until something jumps out of a pile of leaves . A long-eared scared rabbit (white, gray, brown fur) two meters in front of me still half-asleep hopped aside along the entire ridge. It was warming up nicely there in the leaves, ha,ha!. Finally I step onto another viewpoint and descend via Mažijeva path to Tacen. It was blowing only a little from the north, complete calm from the south, ground is frozen and doesn't slip, recommend!, Regards

Today I was on Smarna Gora. The hut was open, as usual. Regards to all Smarna Gora lovers.

Why madhouse, we had a great time for 12 hours. That's just the overture to the 24 hours of walking to St. Primož in May

I think that any excess already can't have a good effect on the organism. The descents seem most burdensome for knees and spine to me. Maybe there's an orthopedist among us who will share his opinion on this feat.

Regarding socializing definitely understandable and praiseworthy too, because too many somehow rush each on their own paths while from pure sporting point of view maybe more pleasant some ,,ring,, around Ljubljana, ,,triangle,, towards Polhograjci - Kamnik... and similar. But also such continuously up and down, running in shorter loop like Sladkih 6,... have their charm and congrats for persistence. Everyone has own taste, free choice and decides by own will. Lp

Loni, we really had a good time... But I believe it's hard for some to understand but I'll quote here words from mate Semjul: “What pulls us at two in the morning to rush always to the same hill, whole twelve hours. If I think about it, really a bit crazy, however when I'm with, when I meet you on Smarna Gora slope, hear comments, encouragements and see smiling faces, even at two pm I know why I'm in. Fourteen ascents just for dessert, all rest is you, dear running company, filling me with energy for further feats. Body really tires, but spirit much more alive.”

At parking by Lipa they "delighted" us today with another price hike. Now they want 1.50 euros per hour. Too bad, but we'll join the impudent ones parking off the road. Everything has its limits.
