Skrlatica

Thanks jozo for the noble care and effort for the benefit of all of us in the mountains. Let the wood dry well if the weather allows. In winter the stove also burns shop-bought wooden briquettes well, the heat from the stove is considerable, quite a luxury.
Slovenian weather blog predicts wet autumn and transition to winter, others talk of warm long autumn, the hut warden at Kocbekov dom notices grass browning quickly, which means short autumn and colder days. What will be, only up there know. Regardsmežikanje

I ascend past Pogačnik towards Križ, then descent to the junction and on towards Rdeča škrbina. Too few "red-white" markers on this path, many almost invisible. At the foot of Škrlatica the whirring of a helicopter announcing rescue of an injured woman. Hope all's well. Ascent favorable, key spots secured perfectly, views from top superb. Return past bivouac back to Vrata.

Good jozo but there was an injured person.
I was also at the top of Skrlatica today. Obviously you just missed me in the viewfinder on the last picture.
Otherwise excellent tour today, weather held up pretty well too.

Yes, from the picture I think it's a woman, just guessing.

Yes, that was the unfortunate one - it was me. For now I got off easy with an ankle sprain. Glad for the pics, though I'm only seen from afar. Careful everyone and good luck!

Thanks, Manja and Smidov David, for your wishes for a speedy recovery. Jozo, you have a reply to your PM. Thinking about what could have happened to me when the rock gave way, what did happen was minimal. I fought well, though. With that leg I kept climbing because it was already dark and we had to get out of the wall quickly, then a 6-hour night descent that unfortunately didn't reach the bivouac. So we bivouacked on the scree, where in the morning we realized that with my leg it wouldn't go anymore...
So you really have to be careful, because it's so friable! I heard hikers in the morning heading to Skrlatica (probably you), someone was already up there in the dark. Good luck!

Today's weather is just right to croak, I planned to head to Skrlatica on Thursday. If anyone is there before (Tuesday or Wednesday then), please info on how much snow fell and if anything obstructs walking, especially the ascent in the wall.

Thanks.

Less than 10 cm but quite cold. Yesterday afternoon it cleared up, northerly wind blowing, mainly winter conditions. Better around 9 September, then in a few days similar cooling as today when it was already frosty on Babno polje and Gorenjska. Autumn is coming.

Don't despair yet. Even at the end of October or November it was dry and warm enough for short sleeves. If it's a normal autumn, there will still be some ideal days when down below it's sunny and in high mountains late summer nasmeh.

But it's true that north wind usually clears the air very much, which means wonderful views. mežikanje

Don't mislead, northern but also eastern and western slopes in Julian Alps above 2300 m have snow, true not large amounts, but this powder is most dangerous for slip, because even with crampons and ice axe we can't help much, so careful in high mountains.

Today I was on Škrlatica. To the wall snow just a trace, in the wall (mainly in gully) bit more. Still nowhere it poses any increased slip risk. That bit of ice at gully bottom no problem, as it's on flat anyway and little, higher on rocks no more snow.
