Yes, Škrlatica is really the Queen. Once again she thrilled and enchanted me so that I really "felt" her. Wonderful weather, a few mountaineers and above all silence. Protections flawless (only the first cable torn 2m long, but it has no meaning as it is practically not needed), no technical issues on the path. LP Andrej

The early hour golden hour held today big time. At 5:10 we started from Vrata. A bit cold for short sleeve and shorts, but later even that was too much. Wonderful morning soon turned into an even nicer day. In the morning chamois and rock ptarmigans kept us company, higher up we enjoyed views of surrounding peaks and valley. Path nice, climbing part safe too. On top pleasantly tired at 7:55, during long break in nice talk already making plans across border, then in real heat down to valley. In short, really nice first school day, especially with friends in our nice mountains. Nice regards, Janez.

Top-notch. It seems we watched you from Špik. Today the weather was really totally 'clear'. Don't know if I've experienced such before.

Hi! I would ask if someone can give me data for Škrlatica, what the conditions are like, going Sunday of course if suitable. Thanks and nice regards.

I'm also interested in conditions for Skrlatica, mainly how much snow fell with the last precipitations? I'd also go up on Sunday if the weather is favorable.

With the last precipitations it rained in the mountains. Some snow, mainly graupel, can be found in some gully.

Tomorrow I plan Skrlatica from Vrata and wonder if by chance new snow fell (forecast around 2200m). Weather should improve, just colder. Any problem with wet? Best, Nataša

8.10.2009 Hello. I was on Škrlatica today. Perfect views, perfect pics. Gotta admit, I expected more... but who isn't happy with little doesn't deserve big. Fingers itch terribly for ridge traverse, but I'll postpone to next year. There are two windows, one at the start of the climb, the other a bit below the summit. Wind blew around the peaks so the view was phenomenal. At the start the rock was wet (in the forest), the rest was dry, friability not that extreme. No exposed ledges, altogether nothing, but it drags along the ridge. Bivak IV is still there... One thing is true, if you have at least some fitness, 4 hours is more than enough. I was up in three hours. The group of alpinists behind me too. So the time on the sign at Vrata holds: 6 hours both ways. Nice mountaineer greeting. Big smile.

Geolog, don't bullshit with times! If without gear and in running shoes, then yes three hours. Otherwise no one at 1800 m alt. escapes four hours ascent. Bivak IV 1.5-2 h, to summit under one hour no hiker gets there, mountain runners yes. LP-Rok

Don't wanna argue. Why do these times bother you so much? At Bivak IV at 7:58. From Vrata a little before seven. Summit at 9:56. What's not clear? Times bother you again... Gear was full, backpack 3L water, helmet... I think I have nothing to prove to anyone. If you don't believe me, that's not my problem. One time someone writes times, it's OK, another doesn't like times written. I think it's good to write times, not to prove to others but to oneself. I know what I'm capable of and what not. Nice greeting to you too: Juš

Look Juš. In my young days we ran to Triglav via Tominšek and arrived at the summit in 2:45 h, without gear and in sports shoes. Škrlatica is much more open for runs and achieving times than očak.

One more. A fit person easily manages 500 height meters per hour. Signs say average 300 height meters per hour. All fine and good. If you do sports your whole life, such a person doesn't lack fitness. I think I won't defend myself at all! Think what you want. Some on the forum already know what I'm talking about. Some more "impossible" times: Poldov Rovt-Bivak II-Oltar-Dovški Križ-Šplevta-Poldov Rovt 5:58, Mihov Dom-Prisank (Hanzova)-Razor-Kr. Podi-Križ-Vrh Kr. Stene-Krnica-Mihov Dom 14:38. Well, is this possible? Don't take me for a liar because I don't want anything from anyone!

Nobody is saying you're a liar, far from it, but tell that you run and don't walk in the mountains...

, let's say I have my own pace... I don't run, but walk very fast. That's my challenge! I like to go to the limit, even beyond... as long as it's safe.

What's the problem? It's totally possible to get to the top that fast. I too sometimes want to go fast (time also fast), sometimes slow, when I want to ,,exhaust,, myself, I go to the end; of course with backpack.

You know, later you'll realize that the nicest hiking in mountains is when your heart beats pleasantly, breathing is light at half, when you stop your heart calms in a minute, you look around and have energy reserves ahead, also for when the worst happens in mountains. We burn most at the start of the tour if we rush up too fast and after long breaks when body cooled down.

I believe you viharnik, believe every word. now it suits me like this, another time different. I believe you're not one of those who firmly believe what's on signs/or impossible to jump somewhere on the side. today didn't appeal and didn't go e.g. to Stenar. when body can't take physical effort anymore I learned it's all in the head, as long as head ok everything ok. otherwise in crisis: sugar 5 min and gas on.
