Viharnik, nice things await you. Bonneval sur Arc - here I go!, then guru puja in Cabella follows. It would be nice if you wrote what awaits you, because we're not all familiar with these abbreviations. Thanks!

In some cases PZS A insurance is unfortunately completely inappropriate. Although PZS tries to compare it to similar OAV insurance it's far from that.
Of course the insurance is really suitable for 90% of mountaineering population. But things get complicated when they become a bit more serious...
It turns out the insurance is completely inappropriate for slightly bigger and top alpinists due to unnecessary and unrealistic limitations. Even more striking is that it doesn't cover alpinistic skiing and skiing with cable car help (freeride) On one side PZS awards recognitions on the other doesn't provide good insurance for top alpinists!
Due to such unpleasant limitations some of us are always forced to go for insurance to the neighbor although we'd rather insure at home.
I strongly hope these nonsensical things change at least by next insurance period.

Hello! Does anyone know how it is with payment of hospital treatment costs if someone is OAV member? Rescue costs even with helicopter are covered. For hospital costs, possible surgery, physio etc. It says all that is covered only in case of injury and treatment abroad. So can treatment from E-card be covered then? Since the slip in Alps happened in free time. Asking for someone who lives in Austria and got injured in Austria, broke arm. Of course OAV member for years. Now worried about costs from LKH Graz [operation broken arm, physio and up to 4 months sick leave...> Thanks for info if any of you have experience with OAV. Uroš

As far as I know, the helicopter goes on the OEAV bill, the rest on health insurance. Probably also in AUT, like here, they pay health insurance. Anyway, what you're asking is resolved in a few minutes by calling OEAV, contact numbers for all areas covered by membership are plenty on the web.

Thanks Turbo. Helicopter is already covered by OEAV insurance. For hospital costs we're not sure. We're worried because it was in free time. On the OEAV website it says they cover hospital costs only for abroad and also transport back home. So we can conclude that if it happens to an Austrian in the Austrian Alps, hospital costs are not paid. We can only hope it goes at least from that E-card [basic compulsory health ins.]. Time will show now..... If anyone knows something like that in practice, thanks for info. Now the Austrian health fund also wants to know from the injured why and how it happened. A few days ago he also got a call from the Alpine Police about how the slip happened and why.....

And what if it was in free time? Then Austrian health insurer refuses payment for recreational basketball injury treatment too? Kindergarten teacher's? Covers only work accidents? I strongly doubt it. If the person has health insurance, treatment covered. Maybe some co-payment needed, according to Austrian insurance rules.
