@janez.novak

if you go to the Julians you don't need anything.

Namely, our or Austrian insurance does NOT cover anything in the country where you have permanent residence.

That means their services are useful outside our borders, if you are registered in SLO of course.

Otherwise the difference is very big.

Our insurance covers alpinism or climbing in higher mountains only for alpinists or alpinism course participants, OEAV has no such condition.

Likewise OEAV covers rescue if your equipment breaks. Say you lose your ice axe or the binding breaks on touring skis in the middle of Monte Rosa... a bit awkward..

I advise you to ask ACTIVE mountain guides where they are insured. It will be immediately clear what to do...

Today I took out CORIS travel insurance for 7 days.
The insurance is very simple, just provide personal data and it's done in a moment.
With the tourist package of basic insurance, which we take for 5 days onwards, in case of accident, injury coverage in mountains worldwide only up to 3000m. Above that height, +30% of the insurance amount is added to the basic health premium, so the member is fully insured.
If traveling in Europe, basic health ins. premium with coverage up to 25,000eur is enough.
In the world where EHIC doesn't apply, it's good to insure as best as possible with triple coverage, because other costs there increase a lot including logistics.
CORIS thus covers all accident costs except mountain rescue, that covers mountaineering insurance. They cover all traffic accidents, other injuries, acquired illnesses, epidemics.
In case of accident, if traveling alone or doing tours alone, it's good to request personal Medical Assistance Card from CORIS, they will issue it exceptionally. Thus equipped, if serious self-injury occurs, rescuers or medical staff can more easily get insurer data and contact them.
For small amounts doctor or treatment up to about 100eur (as much as individual can currently cover), insured pays himself. At home insurer reimburses. If treatment amount higher, upon hospitalization insured calls home to CORIS, says what happened, type of injury, meanwhile doctor-hospital abroad also contacts CORIS and thus covers treatment costs, treatment can continue without issues. On larger injury or longer treatment abroad CORIS insurer covers costs until patient can be brought home. Regarding treatment location home or abroad (if accident related to abroad), local chief doctor decides if injured is treated abroad or transported home for surgery, depending on injury type and impact on health-survival. Upon taking insurance, insurer gifts interesting card game. Good luck!nasmeh

Nothing new.....If rescue needed in foreign mountains, insured must pay rescue bill. Amount will be reimbursed by insurer afterwards if insurance coverage confirmed.

LG, what if you read it again? Assistance IS included, of course up to the provided amounts. I'm no PZS lawyer, but facts are facts.

Everything is written on the PZS site, read the conditions and also with other insurances it's similar.

3. If after rescue treatment is needed, Coris via partner or other competent rescue service in the country where the person is will organize transport to the nearest hospital able to provide appropriate help, where hospital costs are covered and if needed organizes and covers repatriation costs, of course up to the insurance amount.

What is not clear here?

Coris is another insurer and it's additional insurance besides Adriatic. Others already wrote Coris is good, but for foreign mountains you need extra payment/insurance. @jax everything is on the above link from user @makris.

LG,
With Coris insurance you are covered in case of accident worldwide and also at home (not only in mountains), regardless of accident location, type, cause and who is at fault.
With Coris insurance, before concluding it you must state that you will be above 3000m in mountains, which increases the specific risk of the insurance type by a few euros/day.
How PZS has now arranged 24-hour assistance, I don't know.

Now they have newly introduced 24-hour assistance, rescue coverage for A members up to 10,000 €. They have also improved the discount for overnight stays in huts to 50%, category I hut rooms up to 30%.
OeAV still covers rescue assistance over 25,000 €, mountaineer treatment covers up to more than 10,000 €.

Matej (lg), what you wrote above and on G-L is not correct. With the new insurance the key novelty is assistance abroad. On the above PZS link instructions for claiming insurance from PZS membership are still missing, but a bit more is mentioned in the article http://www.pzs.si/novice.php?pid=9788

although it's hard to believe they have practically completely equalized conditions with OeAV or added accident insurance...

http://aacuk.org.uk/p-benefits

Of course it's new and how everything will work in practice is still not known

one plus is definitely that Coris is really valued and repeatedly checked insurance company

Triglav Insurance, my question 1. I'm interested exactly in helicopter rescue in foreign mountains, so
what all is covered here from medical staff that must be present with
the injured to helicopter flight and to hospital care.

Dear Sir,

given that you're only interested in helicopter and rescue, I explain
the following:

Triglav Insurance within health insurance for travel abroad with assistance covers all costs of medical care in case of accident abroad or illness. Regardless of location. So it applies to mountains too. But condition is injury or illness.
E.g. if hiker, mountaineer gets lost, off track etc. - not included in this insurance and no coverage in that case. If during mountaineering injury occurs or illness strikes, then mountaineer calls assistance number which arranges helicopter rescue and necessary medical help if needed, and also coordinates further treatment.

We do not offer insurance for mountain rescue cases (i.e. when not injury or illness).

Best regards,

PZS: What is the procedure for reimbursement of rescue costs abroad?
Rescue costs from 2015 are covered directly by the insurance company to the rescue service based on assistance for rescue in foreign mountains. Advance payment and subsequent reimbursement is thus no longer needed. Since the condition for validity of assistance is that the PZS member is actually listed on the member list, we suggest all members check before departure abroad via the website www.pzs.si if you are correctly entered.

Anyone insuring via CORIS for additional mountain insurance must first choose the BASIC insurance option (covers whole procedure, hospital transport, health assistance, referral home, applies only to lowlands). Can also take MULTI RISK insurance (loss of items, cash transfers, damage to others, death payout...), then on top of one of these necessarily add coverage for mountaineering, sports over 3000m.
I took only three-day basic + mountain insurance for 8.5 eur for Schwarzenstein, since next peak Rauchkofel 3251m will also be high altitude, but easier tour.

Pleasantly surprised when I receive the new 2016 membership card from our neighbors from the mailbox, which I haven't even paid yet.
They thank me for trust in Austrian Alpine Club.
With membership you enter a strong cooperative community that truly stands for well-being towards nature and mountains, closely connected to their hearts.
With title: Together we are strong.nasmeh

Dear Name Surname!

Then in English! velik nasmeh

Well this year they at least laminated the card a bit so it won't crumple like last year's, otherwise the PZS one is more durable, have to say.

Otherwise the card is not valid until you pay it. Maybe you can still sneak in with unpaid one in non-Austrian huts, but insured you are not.

Coris insurance is about a km away, so I insured myself again for 100 thousand. He first wanted only 25 but it didn't work (said helicopter is already covered). In an accident, therefore, one needs to consider also treatment, which as more demanding can quickly rise greatly in cost, then transport of mortal remains to homeland and more. So for three days insurance between 25k€ and third highest premium 100k€ which covers all, difference only 2.2€, paid for three days 14.2€ general + mountaineering over 3000m. Despite bad weather from Thursday on there will reign some days of very stable weather with less moisture. Bonneval sur Arc - here I go!, then follows guru puja in Cabellanasmeh
