@LEA, @JURIJ and @others who are in any way offended or hurt by my comment, I sincerely apologize to all.

But I would emphasize that my intention was not any insulting, lecturing, moralizing, "breathing fire" (as some put it) etc. My intention was just to express an opinion.
People have different styles of writing and commenting, mine might seem picky, rude, "moralizing" or even offensive to some... anyway, it is absolutely sincere.
Upon registering on the portal, I didn't see anywhere that participation requires explicit praising and "patting" comments. Ultimately, expressing different viewpoints or opinions seems more constructive to me.
With the phrase "you had more luck than sense" I didn't mean you are stupid etc., by the way I occasionally say this phrase to myself too smile, and I certainly don't have a bad self-image wink.

I hope there's no truth in @dprapar's comment, although I really doubt there's nothing to it.

So, I've spoken...

Good luck!

Superbly written, Lea, and obviously without mincing words, which I greatly appreciate.
I was thinking what I would do in these circumstances, given that I am standing at a known point, Srebrno sedlo. Most likely I would head east, to Korošica or Petkove njive, since it was still early. There are no nasty precipices there and the descent gradually slopes down. There I would decide based on further conditions whether to Presedljaj or over Šraj pesek, as I know both variants well. The biggest mistake was the separation, as even in good conditions it can cause quite a bit of worry.

In fog towards Korošica is the last option, my opinion. Once you can only see a meter in front of you, Korošica is science fiction. Anything other than following the ascent footsteps is not good.

Understandable. The first option is the ascent route, except in case of heavy snowfall or wind carrying snow.

Regardless of comments, all who will hike the gully route behind vrati-Planjava and find yourselves in similar conditions, stick to redbull's comment and stay together. The ascent route is the most sensible for descent in this case, even if demanding. Carefully and good luck!

Surely better to Korošica directly over Debeli sneg, than into Repov kot or towards Planjava green meadows, especially if it's the first time.

if your gps works, and if not? then you're screwed towards Korošica

Why? Surely it's easier/safer to go into the unknown towards Presedljaj/Šraj pesek than unknown into the gullies in Repov kot.

Sometimes in such cases we used maps and compass, which today is almost on every sports watch ... in every fog we got where we needed to ... I don't remember how the signal is at Srebrno sedlo, but given visual contact with Velika planina, it would probably pull online maps too - it's true though that for navigation in fog you need a topographic map at 1:25.000

No doubt. Anyway, if you invest in GPS, buying a topographic map additionally is a minimal investment. -.-

In such cases maybe the free app PhoneMaps (for Android phones) comes in handy; you can pull maps onto the phone so they work offline... the layers are crap and not precise enough, but many trails are drawn very accurately... with a bit of ingenuity you can manage with such a map too.

The compass was, is and will be the most reliable aid for moving in nature, where you're not dependent on signal, batteries or knowledge of high technologyvelik nasmeh

lijaneja, but you're dependent on landmarks. In thick fog there aren't many of them nasmeh You can hold the azimuth (and even that only approximately); anything more is hard.

that's why you use a map together with the compass, so you can use the directions of natural landmarks (slope, gully, ridge, foot of walls, etc.) for orientation even in thick fog ... GPS and electronic map can be very useful because they show your position - of course assuming the electronic map is precise enough and you're not right at the foot of north faces where GPS signal sucks...

best is to combine everything.. with lots of experience and right gear you can always solve even the trickiest problems

janezs73, definitely. I'm just saying that orientation with compass and map in certain conditions (say snowy landscape and fog with visibility to a few dozen meters) is very difficult, if not practically impossible.

Hi!
Does anyone have info if the path from Kamniško Sedlo is snow-free?

There was just a post on FB today, where snow patches are clearly visible where winter gear is needed.

On the way to Planjava (from Kamniško sedlo) you cross 2 snowfields (a couple meters each), but they're not problematic - goes without winter gear. Other snowfields can be bypassed easily. Path from Korošica also snow-free. Status 25.6.

After visiting Brana I visited Planjava yesterday too. At the summit I enjoyed the solitude and great view, the sun was scorching especially in the wall below Planjava. Snow on the path has completely melted so you don't walk on snow anywhere anymore, only snowfields above and below the path remain, which are melting very fast.
The exit from the protected ledge is superb.1
The view from Sukalnik always enchants.2
Skuta, all 4 Rinke and Turska gora.3
Rinka waterfall and Orlovo gnezdo from Planjava.4
Ojstrica, Raduha and Uršlja gora in between.5
Planjava.6
The second passage under Sukalnik is also superb.7
