Planjava

Yesterday (14.09.) I went from Repov kot over Srebrno sedlo to Planjava. Up to the saddle conditions without issues, further on some snow patches which aren't too bothersome. Descended to Kamniško sedlo where above the hut, where there are some fixed ropes and pegs, still quite some snow. Snow is south-facing and melting fast. Caution needed against slips, for experienced it goes without trouble, would advise against ascent for summer hikers. LP and lots of mountaineering pleasures.

19.06.08

On foot from Jermanca (at 12h from work). To Repov kot, past brilliant pools. Here I fill the bottle with water. nasmeh
To the hunting passage to Zelenice. Above the scree I deliberately turn right into the 'gully', as easy scrambling irresistibly tempts me. I reach the Planjava summit in stubborn fog (otherwise warm, almost no wind), in the haze I regret the views ... zadrega

Descent over Zelenice towards the passage Za Vratam. Chamois behind the saddle up to mischief! velik nasmeh
On the lonely stretch to the transverse path over Macesnovec. To Stan (Pastirci). Dry mouth wants refreshment (beer), heh, still need to go to the saddle. nasmeh
In the hut, chat with the warden, then to the blueish grasses above it (uh, gentians)! nasmeh
Past fearless ibex, straight down the scree to Stan. For the dark they figured out the headlamp long ago, but lo and behold, I don't need it.

Conditions? Dry.
Passages of course need to be known.

Great day! mežikanje

Regards.

Wonderful photos. Last August I went through Repov kot over Srebrno sedlo to Planjava and was thrilled, especially by the pools. One of the nicest paths in our mountains in my opinion. If you step just a bit right at Srebrno sedlo, you reach a natural window through which you see Korošica. Shame you didn't make a path description there where Planjava descriptions are.
Nice regards!

Volk, I thought you could make a path description under list of mountains-Kamniško Savinjske Alpe-Planjava, because there is no description for path Jermanca-Planjava via Repov kot, and you seem to know this unmarked hunting path excellently.
Mountaineering regards.

I also join Brane71's suggestion. Volk, describe this path!

Yes, that would be nice because I've already hiked the classic path over K.S. many times. nasmeh

I support the requests; especially, it would be dreamy if there is some GPS track…

The approach to Planjava via Zelenice is nicely described in the mountaineering guide (Andrej Stritar - 111 trips in Slovenian mountains), but why not.
However, this 'path' there is rated as VERY DEMANDING PATHLESS TERRAIN, so ...

To Repov kot you can easily get via the beaten track that starts in Klin (red arrow for marking to Kamniško sedlo). Here we take the lower path (over the fallen trunk), and ascend without trouble along it, all along the left bank of the valley. To the pools the path finally leads over an open rocky slope, where steps follow some bent pegs (of little help, exposed to slipping). We spot the beautiful 'pool' after just a few-meter descent into scree (to the right), from the path among the bushes. Along the wide path in sparse forest in zigzags we continue upwards. Soon we reach the exceptionally scenic gravelly ridge, on which there still stands a lonely and visibly scorched storm shelter (once it burned here). STILL BEFORE IT a path branches off to the right to Srebrno sedlo (where you soon have to scramble briefly)! But we gaze from this ridge into the prominent overhang, which really draws us very close by itself. But caution! Higher in the slope, under the walls, another one appears, but don't go past it! So, over the gravelly flat of the ridge under the elongated overhang, at the end of which there is visibly scorched bush. Behind it briefly upwards along the indistinct wide gully, where to the left among bushes something path-like soon appears to us. Above us looms that huge overhang (or better cavity), but we traverse transversely across grass first to the left, then soon upwards along bushes (demanding, steep) under smaller walls, where a mature larch awaits us! Horizontally behind it yet another one! Traversing past the second is also the technically hardest part of the entire 'path' (very exposed, but good holds and steps, short). Behind the 'corner' a friendly cairn greets us. But this exposed spot can also be bypassed. Behind the first larch we descend easily down the cluttered gully, but not too far! Behind the end of the first wall we must immediately climb to the right again into the steep, grassy gully (very demanding), to which we get more nicely via horizontal traverse past that second (solitary) larch ... After this distinct gully only straight upwards (steep, visibly trodden, certainly by chamois) onto grass among bushes, behind which we step onto the open scree field. And the world opens up (Zelenice) ...
From here to the summit of Planjava we can walk the whole time without major difficulties, after the scree field across more or less steep grass, seeking the easiest passages. But Sukalnik is also extremely invitingly close ...

The approach via Srebrno sedlo is technically harder, but orientationally easier (as already written in the guide). mežikanje

P.S. Once more. Only for those experienced in pathless terrain!

zmp2, GPS track? Hm, for now I'm still very old-fashioned, but time ... mežikanje

And good luck, wherever you are. nasmeh

Volk, many thanks for this description. As for old-fashionedness, I doubt that fact very much. Photo with drawn route means you master computer technology, and if I think a bit, description+photo is almost equivalent to GPS track. I use GPS for about a year, it's additional help, and later analysis. Especially useful is data "Where am I?" at certain moment (especially pathless), but I never go to mountains without large map in backpack, and scanned/printed section in pocket.
If you ever need advice/help around GPS, I'll gladly help.
Thanks once more.

This is a very good description, Volk.
Otherwise, I regularly check your photo album; you have very nice pictures, especially those two horned ones I like. Could you attach them here too?
Good luck.

Yesterday I was on Planjava, coming from the direction of the pastures Podvežak-Korošica-Škarje-Planjava.
Below Planjava there are still a few snow patches, but no danger...
I descended towards the Silver Saddle and Korošica. Great circular route, all fine, except the heat... Best regards

Yesterday I went from Kamniška Bela over Presedlaj to Korošica then to Ojstrica, over Škarje to Planjava and on to Kamniško Sedlo and Kamniška Bistrica. The path from Presedlaj is about a kilometer quite overgrown with pines and you're quite wet in the early hour when there's still dew. Continuation on Kocbek path to Ojstrica, nice weather path dry, view wonderful. Path to Planjava is nicely passable despite some snow patches, same for descent to Kamniško Sedlo.

From Planjava to Ojstrica I needed 1 hour and 45 min. But if I went again, I would take a bit more time for views and surroundings. It is wonderful.

Today I was on Planjava. I started from Jemerce and continued over Kamniško sedlo (hut is closed). The weather was wonderful , the path is normally passable without snow, aids are in good condition.
