Has anyone gone to Ojstrica or Planjava over Grlo recently? I'm interested in the hunting path from Logarski kot. Thanks

Yesterday I went with colleagues from planina Podvežak to Kocbek shelter then over Mala Ojstrica to Ojstrica and then to Kocbek hut and back to planina Podvežak. Super tour.
But I have a question: When going from Kocbek shelter further past the chapel, there is a signpost turned to the right into the wall, though there is a trodden path straight ahead. What is correct now? Though in the wall with some imagination you can see it is trodden, but no marks or blazes further, only later at the top before Mala Ojstrica.

If I'm not mistaken (please correct me), there used to be a marked path straight from the chapel to Ojstrica. About three years ago I went up that path. Initially steeper, later it joins the marked path past Mala Ojstrica to Ojstrica. Marks are faded too, but the path is findable, and orientation in nice autumn weather should not be a problem.
Good luck!

Izzy204, is the hut at Korošica still open and is the path to Onasmehjstrica dry? Tomorrow I might head up there a bit. Thanks for the info!

On Saturday it was still open. Best to check by phone.

jozo: don't go via Kopinškova, as the north side under the slope (when crossing from NE to NW side of the mountain) is still snowy and likely to stay that way. You can't avoid snow, there are footprints but it's icy.... If planning to go up, go from Podvežak or Robanov kot. Also advise against Škarje, as the descent to the upper part of Klemenče jama is in snow.nasmeh

Just spoke to the warden who says she's closing the hut now and returning to the valley. She says the path from the hut to the summit is dry and normally passable. Thanks anyway for the info.

As I understood from the conversation, yesterday was supposed to be the last day they were open. I can't confirm 100%, but since they only served drinks yesterday (no more Laško, only Union), I'd say they've ended the season.
For the path, do as panda advises.

On Sunday we went from the end of the road at Planina Ravne past V. Vrha, Molička planina to Mala Ojstrica and along the eastern ridge to Ojstrica. The ridge is a bit tricky especially in the reverse direction. From the top we descended to Korošica, past Črni vrh and under the slopes of V. Vrha mistakenly to planina Dolge trate on a worse path to the valley to Planina Ravne and then to the car.
Very nice tour in great weather. Due to unexpected longer return and unadjusted clock we walked the last half hour at night. Recommend starting the tour early and never in fog. Of course, winter conditions will likely be there this week.

And some snapshots from the middle of the 19.11.08 hike to Škrbina (under Ojstrica). I went past Kl. jama, first snow starts right at the junction Škarje-Škrbina to the top of Škrbina. ca. 10 cm, but tomorrow it will probably be different as the forecasts say.
If you're thirsty, suck it a little1

Today I visited it, went from Podvolovjeka towards planina Podvežak, left the car at the last junction (1250m) to Podvežak on foot! The path was tough as we made the first track, otherwise quite trodden but new snow covered it! In future probably a bit firmer as already under the foot of Mala Ojstrica firmer and crusty! Despite new snow no avalanches seen, nice tour, track made! Didn't reach Ojstrica due to lack of time from unexpected track-breaking! Only to the saddle! LP if someone hikes those days around there let us know.

Today from Podvežak to Korošica to the summit, returned over Mala Ojstrica. Snow starts at 1600m, wet but no sinking. Access to summit tricky as snow quite south-facing and crampons grip poorly. Returned over Mala Ojstrica which is almost entirely dry, just cross some snow patches here and there.

Was yesterday on Ojstrica via planina Podvežak. Weather excellent, occasional cloud, sun burned my face and bare arms.zadrega Up the ridge over Mala Ojstrica and those remaining snow patches a bit uncomfortable, down to Korošica where only below summit bare, rest snow. Weather held and despite strong sun snow from Korošica to car did not sink as expected. Nice day!

Hi

We would go to Dom Okreselj. How is the weather there? Could we hike there, or is everything full of snow?

Thanks,

But on high mountains nearby, you must have with you also ice axe and maybe crampons.

On Sunday, 14.6.09 we went via planina Podvežak initially towards Planjava. At Kocbekov dom we got info from the friendly caretaker that there are still many unpleasant snow patches on the path, crossing without crampons and ice axe can be dangerous. Decision to climb Ojstrica via direct path from the hut upwards. Path partly still snowy, need to cross some less demanding snow patches which can also be avoided. Summit part dry. At top still large snow cornice.
Descended ridge path past natural window and via Mala Ojstrica to saddle covered with remains of drifted snow.
Weather wonderful, very hot and windless, quite a few visitors. What annoyed were swarms of small flies, which by my own experience in this season characteristic of entire Dleskovška plateau.
Nice regards and courage on the trail.

Yesterday's sunny Sunday we used with better half for tour to Ojstrica - nicer in two.

From end of road at planina Ravne past Stara Lučka koča still some snow patches, similarly under Veliki vrh towards Molička peč. Rather than problem they provide pleasant refreshment in hot day.
Old Kocbekovo shelter still closed, but few minutes before our arrival new shepherd came to check, politely served us drinks and unlocked chapel.

Ascent left of chapel to Mala Ojstrica still quite snowy, crumbly and locally exposed. Requires caution.
Eastern ridge path to Ojstrica dry, some more snow patches on classic towards Korošica, crossing in warm day no problem.
Returned to start via unmarked path over Vrtače and planina Dolga trata, where picturesque and well traceable pathlet surprises with much better cleared scrub than marked approach path. Constant feeling you're ascending more than descending.

Quite strenuous all-day 'march', hampered by swarms of flies, enlivened in this season by alpine meadows of colorful flowers along path.
