Better. In the mountains there are already real winter conditions in places, so...

I'm wondering if anyone has gone recently to Ojstrica from the Podvežak pasture. What are the conditions? Is it OK to go or not?

I was there in December - check the pictures. There was 20-30cm of snow on the path to Korošica. To Ojstrica two went then. If the road isn't plowed from the farm onwards, it's already to Korošica approx. 3-4 hours of good walking. Then still count on Ojstrica - you have to be physically and technically well prepared in these conditions. There probably isn't much more snow than there was then - sorry, I can't give complete info, because after that I wasn't in that area anymore. I'm a quite experienced mountaineer, just the years are hitting me a bit (51), I would wait for the snow to consolidate and then go for it. There are many hills around that you can tackle and that are a bit less demanding than Ojstrica. LP

I was on Ojstrica on Sunday 17.2. Road to Podvežak is plowed (log hauling). Saturday don't know. On Sundays they don't work, so can drive up (chains recommended). Snow is frozen, to Korošica without crampons, towards top nice if you put them on, pleasant walking.

How much time did you spend walking?

I left the car a bit above the Planinšek farm (didn't know it's plowed), to Korošica I went on touring skis, to the top on foot (around 4.5 hours) down I skied. From Podvežak it's an hour less. LP

Hi zamet, up to where is the road drivable from Podvolovljek? Is the path to Korošica trodden or do you have to break trail? lp gornik2

G. gornik2 road is drivable almost to Podvežak. I went with touring skis so didn't sink much, one went to junction for Molička peč then turned back, sank 10-15cm, further no tracks, if early I think no problem. LP zamet

Yeah, yeah, yesterday "did" Ojstrica from Planina Podvežak. In the morning the snow held all the way to the top and it was a pleasure to hike despite the steepness which doesn't let up all the way to the top. On the way back sinking caused additional fatigue, but it was still insanely nice, weather wonderful, all hills white and frosted, really nice... P.S. And thanks to the touring skiers from Kamnik for the pastry at the end of the day, it really hit the spot!

Today from Logar Valley, via Klemenča cave and Škarja. From the junction to Kopinšek path I put on crampons, snow was nicely frozen so that it was possible to walk on top. On crossing to the south side there were no tracks, sinking up to "ass", so I better played it safe and descended the same way.

Hi, writing from Croatia to ask if possible to Ojstrica without gear, just backpack? We would go Friday, know there's snow but... Also ask if Planika hut on Triglav opens? Thanks

izvorc, I think the two comments above yours say enough. Mountains have winter conditions requiring proper gear, knowledge and experience. Ojstrica will wait, for now I suggest a lower tour where you can enjoy spring nature. Info on huts at http://www.pzs.si/koce/regija.php?id=3 Good luck!

Izvorc! Do as Lj says and you'll hike hills long time. Currently access without crampons and ice axe is "Russian roulette"!

Sending you photo of conditions north face Ojstrica. I think you'll see comments are spot on. Best

Couldn't rest, so today after 14 days after failed ascent went again to Ojstrica and summited. From Logarska started 5am, summit 8:45am. Both north and south sides heavily icy (snow) so I had to hammer crampons hard to make steps. Return to Škarje again knee-deep snow. Saw several new avalanches releasing in the afternoon as local told me.

Hi! Interested if anyone went recently from Podvežak to Korošica. How's the path dry or snowy and if drivable to Podvežak. We'd go Sunday. Thanks for reply: LP

The path to Podvežak is surely passable. Higher up there's probably still some snow, so start as early as possible!

Today my colleague and I were on Ojstrica. Started at 4am in Bela, via Presedlaj to Kocbek hut and on to the summit. Path took around 4h 30min, little snow to Prag. Towards Ojstrica summit mandatory ice axe and crampons to Škarje, where dry again. Little snow on top. Weather mostly sunny, fog and cloud layer around 2000m.
