New Year's Eve on Kredarica (Triglav)

Personally I know all the actors in this story and I'm convinced they would never have set out on this path if they knew what would happen to them. They are all responsible and very experienced people not only in mountaineering but also in other positions and other, perhaps even more dangerous sports.

Experienced, responsible ..if they knew. Why didn't they know? Were they locked in a bunker a week before? Warnings were everywhere and the weather was bad. It's good that anyone returns alive from the mountains at all if even "experienced and responsible" behave like some Czechs who check the weather at home and head off for a 14-day tour in the Julijci

If they are so terribly experienced and responsible, they wouldn't need to call rescuers and ask them for advice. They would make bivouacs themselves and descend without escort...

Let's make a record on this topic say 100 pages My 60-year-old neighbor listened to the rescuers' comment and said they must be related to rescuers because the comment sounded more like training than anything else.

I follow the forum happenings more or less regularly and I just can't understand that these very experienced and responsible mountaineers and other athletes overlooked all the WARNINGS that were piling up also in all other media. That does them no honor and no responsibility LP Martina Učakar

starakapa, are you personally more or less experienced than these guys, or would you head into the Kot in the same conditions? Yes or no?

Oh I think these guys won't head to Triglav ever again, 'cause we'll gnaw 'em to the bone here on the forum. From my experience the approach from Kot in the conditions on New Year's Eve was risky. I mean the path section above Staničeva hut across pode full of small caverns and holes, and with little snow they're not well "filled" and thus dangerous for falls and breaks. Given the start time they'd cross that part in pitch dark and even with lights not recommended. For me and most Kredarica visitors in winter the easiest and quickest is from Krma as we all know who go to mountains in winter. best, Marjan

Nice day behind you though conditions aren't ideal as you describe. We only dare visit it in summer

Ah, that's you, I remember you. Towards the end of the descent from Little Triglav you overtook us, right? Yes, Maremw, I was up there again. Really, I set myself a goal: every year do at least one winter and one summer ascent on our dad and of course as day trips. This is already the 3rd in a row. But it's also true that this descent now in March in southern snow was my hardest winter ascent and even much harder was the descent from the top to Kredarica. Last year's day trip in February was much easier and also much safer.

Hello! Will anyone celebrate New Year's Eve at Kredarica this year too or is it still too early for this topic?

This year it's off because we're whitewashing .

You don't whitewash and build at sub-zero temperatures

If needed, we'll celebrate New Year's Eve with a brush in one hand and a bucket of Jupol in the other. And it would be something really special
